"A very disappointing experience — pet-friendly only in theory"

Unfortunately, there was nothing to like about this experience

We booked this hotel because it was listed as pet-friendly on Booking. I was traveling with my wife, daughter, and our cat. When they arrived after a long trip from Lviv and 6 hours at the border, the hotel refused to check them in, saying “pets must be confirmed earlier.” How could we confirm it earlier if the information appeared only after the booking confirmation? This was a same-day booking, and we had no chance to react. They refunded the money, but after such a long trip my family was left without accommodation late at night. This was unacceptable and unprofessional. The property should not appear under the “pet-friendly” filter if they can refuse guests with pets.
