The location was close to why I visited.

The bench was crawling with ants. They disappeared eventually, but were visible again the next morning

If you transplanted this motel to Sydney or the Queensland coast, you would pay a fortune to stay there. What a find. I had a big motel room with separate double bedroom and a single bed in the living area. There was a decent kitchen, and it had been attractively renovated. The views are fantastic. And it’s walking distance to the only eating place in Whangaroa, the Sport Fishing Club (excellent).
