Swiss Mountain Village

The bed was really comfortable. The location is great, very close to Blue Ridge Parkway and the town of Blowing Rock, but drives up to the individual houses are so narrow, that even though they are labeled two-way drives, one of the cars has to back out to let the other car pass.

The worst part is that there is no staff onsite after 5 pm. And since most problems usually occur outside of 9 to 5 business hours, there is no way to fix them. Our smoke alarm started loudly chirping for a new battery around 11 pm. We called the emergency number, but were told that there’s no one to fix it until the morning. Luckily, my husband figured out how to disconnect the alarm completely (which of course defeats the purpose of having the alarm). We stayed for two nights and nobody bothered to fix the alarm even during business hours. Also, whoever put in the dryer machine apparently didn’t know that the exhaust pipe has to go outside the room, and not back into the room. So it took us a while to realize that that’s why the room got really hot and muggy (in the middle of the summer without air conditioning). If you are booking this room for more than 2 people, beware that there will be no room to move around when the sleeper sofa is unfolded. The bathroom is clean but also tiny.

Location and pond was good

The property is very old and smelly. Very badly maintained. Room is very small for a cabin

Wonderful atmosphere in the village. Beautiful views, friendly staff. Quiet. Staff also was quick and super helpful to help accommodate us for our youngest daughter who has special needs.

Could use a few small updates to repair a few minor things inside but nothing major or nothing that impacted our stay.

Reasonable pricing and some nice views

A/C window unit was not placed in window before arrival and I didn't even find it until next day. One window unit certainly isn't efficient either ,for size and layout of cabin. Fortunately for our stay the temperature was not extremely high.

The setting was great. Excellent facilities. The staff were superb especially the maintenance team who we had to call on.

The only negative was that the washing machine partially blocked the entrance to the bathroom.
