Marena 1

Marena I is the ideal accommodation for a stay in southern Crete. The pretty little house - in the typical Greek blue and white colours - was not only perfectly equipped with all the necessary household and bath utensils but also with attentions such as raki, fruits, cakes. The interior was the ideal size and very clean, while the personal outdoor was wonderful for enjoying our breakfast in the morning. The house was easily accessible, had its own parking space just outside the front door and was only a 3-minute walk from the local beach and restaurants. Maria and Yiorgos exceed the standards of star hotels and make you feel like you’re more than just a guest. They are the embodiment of Greek hospitality, with incredible kindness. They were more than happy to give us recommendations about beaches, restaurants and (sightseeing) trips. Makrygialos is ideal to explore many parts of the island of crete, but at the same time it’s not too touristy and crowded (in September). We could’ve not felt more welcome and home than at the Marena I and we took home some wonderful memories from our stay there. Thank you Maria and Yiorgos!

A great welcoming by a wonderful couple. We felt part of the family in no time. Easy to access by car, which you can leave at the apartment, because everything is reachable on foot. Recommended!

We were a group of 3 people who stayed for one week at Marena 1. The hosts, Yiorgos and Maria, were exceptionally welcoming and generous. We joined them one evening for a meal and left with a gift of figs bottled by Maria. The apartment was conveniently located within a few minutes walk of the seafront restaurants and swimming beach and there is a convenient parking spot in front of the apartment. Everything was tidy and well presented and we made good use of the outside area at the rear of the apartment. Thank you Yiorgos and Maria for your kindness and hospitality!
