Las escaleras son incómodas si viajas con carry on. La habitación es bastante oscura y da para la calle, por lo que te despiertan los bocinazos de los carros.

I booked last minute and was able to get checked in at 10pm after calling the number listed. Used Google translate to communicate, they don't speak English. Breakfast is simple (chose vegan food), doesn't quite start at 7 and imo best to go after 8 am giving them time to setup. My room was on the same floor as the restaurant, there was noise due to the area and general crowd but nothing jarring. There are mosquitos as the common area has open air to the outside but it's not a lot. I do recommend this place due to cleanliness, location and staff.

Wifi was a bit spotty in my room and had to find the best place/angle to get it beyond 2 bars

Maribel is very sweet! And on Sunday there is a cute little Bazaar with local artists and music. It was the sweetest thing.

We booked the room with the private bathroom and air conditioning. I felt that the proximity to the dining area was a little stressful. I felt like every time we turned on a movie or had a conversation that the whole hostel could hear us.

Very comfortable stay at Mama Mambo. Clean, good location to Colonial Zona and very creative, colourful interiors. The breakfast was delicious too and the stay felt like an authentic experience, almost like a homestay.

Two very important notes however especially if a solo traveller is that no-one speaks any English and payment is only in cash which I did not know until I arrived. Thank God for the translate app on my phone as it was extremely difficult (almost impossible) to even attempt to communicate the basics. I do also have to be honest in that if felt like Mama Mambo was more friendly to Spanish speaking guests which did feel slightly unfair. I appreciate English is not the first language in the Dominican, however for where the hotel is based and it being advertised in booking.com I would have expected even the basics.

Everything - I loved it, its such a special place and Maribel and her staff are supercool. I felt at ease and relaxed, didnt mind the traffic at all. You get used to it. I also thought the breakfast was totally enough, every day something different. 100% Recommendation

The location is prime, so is the staff. Very nice atmosphere and community areas, love the open concept, breakfast is tasty and served fresh every morning. The bed was a bit soft for my taste and a bit more packing are would be nice to store stuff.

Very friendly owner, ready to give any assistance and advise. Very good food ! Everything with seeing in walking distance !

Unfortunately, the place is located on a noisy street ....
