Quilotoa Green Lake

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, STAY IN THIS PLACE! IT WAS COMPLETELY DARK OUTSIDE. WE PARKED, AND A TOLL BOOTH MAN AT THE QUILOTOA ENTRANCE ARRIVED WITH A TRUNCHEON, ONLY HIS EYES VISIBLE. HE WAS TALKING TO SOMEONE ON THE PHONE ABOUT WHICH ROOM TO GIVE US. FIRST, HE GAVE US A ROOM WHOSE DOOR WOULDN'T LOCK. THEN HE MOVED US TO ANOTHER ROOM FULL OF MOLD. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS LUKEWARM (AND THEREFORE NOT EVEN HOT) WATER, AND YOU'RE ALMOST 4,000 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL! DINNER WAS INCLUDED IN OUR RESERVATION, AND WE WERE TOLD TO GO EAT AT A RESTAURANT AND BRING THE RECEIPT SO WE COULD GET OUR MONEY. WE LEFT.

the staff on site were not informed of the booking so no dinner although included in the price. They did their best with a good breakfast. Room was unprepared. The contact point did not reply to message nor answer the contact phone.

Conveniently close to the bus stop. 2 out 3 beds very comfy and the extra blankets were most appreciated. Food provided at the hostel opposite was good. Very basic no frills room, ignore the well staged photos and description.

Freezing cold room. Heater that we were given made no difference whatsoever. The website photos and description portrayed a very different scenario. Very basic room.

The hostel is a bit outside quilotoa but only a 7 min walk. They give you a lot of blankets and a heater which you need as it's cold! However, one of the best nights of sleep ever! The guy who worked there was really nice and very polite and made us simple but tasty meals!

Cold in room - no heating. But few blankets on the bed, enough for sleeping.

Location was very close to Quilotoa Lake the bus stop back to Latacunga city.

There was no water in the taps, toilet or shower. The bin had not been emptied before we arrived. We were told by the staff AFTER paying for our stay and checking in that they were working on the water pipes but they would turn the water on when we needed it. They only turned it on for the shower, not sink taps or toilet, and the water was freezing even though we were told there was hot water. Very fustrating after hiking for three days to hear this. We ended up getting a refund and leaving early. The staff had to get someone else to talk to us about the refund and the communication was not good.
