Chateau de Maumont

It was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful and interesting place. The château and it’s grounds are pleasant and comfortable. It’s about a fifteen minute drive to the center of Angouleme, and I suspect a lot nicer than any of the alternatives there, especially as a base for exploring the region. The owners could not have been friendlier or more helpful, and the breakfasts, featuring home cooked dishes, often made from fruits grown on the property, were delicious. There is also a beautiful river a short walk away and two wonderful dogs. All in all one of the most enjoyable places we have ever stayed. And quite reasonably priced.

Sweet room. Lovely pool. Breakfast pleasant with some home cooked specialities, which was a nice touch. The host was a lovely lady, very helpful, knowledgable and interesting.

Delicious breakfast, fabulous house, charming host. Will definitely return.

A beautiful chateau within its own extensive grounds. Wonderful, attentive host who did everything to make our stay a memorable one. Rooms are very generous and well appointed with quirky artistic decor. Great food and generous breakfast with locally sourced products. Secure, gated parking. Local walks along river and woodlands.

Great location for those wanting to do stuff in Angouleme. Our host was a fantastic woman who went above and beyond. The chateau speaks for itself, absolutely stunning. We had a really memorable stay.
