"A beautiful and memorable experience in an historic setting"

10.0

Warm, welcoming, generous and interesting host, with fascinating family connections to the Manor House; richly historic building, furnishings and tranquil surroundings; delicious breakfast.

Superb in every way. Three or more nights would have enabled us to enjoy more of the unique ambiance and nearby places of interest.

L’accueil chaleureux de la propriétaire, le petit déjeuner copieux

L’accès à la chambre en passant par l’escalier est un peu raide….

"Quirky place that lived up to its foxy name."

8.0

I arrived much later than anticipated but the hostess brought to my room a very welcome kettle, coffee and tea etc for me to make a hot drink. Which was very welcome after a long and not pleasant journey due to the awful weather. The dining room and other communal areas were closed. Probably because I was the only guest. The room was cosy and comfortable with good lighting. Outside my room was decidedly chilly. A delicious breakfast was served in the very quirky dining room with a stuffed fox by the fireplace and lovely views of the grounds on a surprisingly sunny morning. I was shown to my table where a good variety of choices to eat were laid out and delicious croissants that I was assured had been bought that morning from the boulangerie. Plenty of good strong coffee was on offer as well so all good. As I was travelling solo it was really nice that the hostess took the time to chat with me about my stay in France.

As other guests have mentioned some better signage to guide you through the grounds to the right building would be handy especially when arriving after dark. I was disappointed to find that I was unable to open the external shutters so there was no natural light in the room on a beautifully sunny morning. There were toiletries in the bathroom but they appeared to be the remnants of bottles from former guests so I was not keen to use any of them. And no soap or handwash which I thought a little odd? I would stay again but would probably prefer a summer visit to enjoy the outside areas. They were all looking a bit bleak when I stayed in February.
