Braeside Guest Rooms

On the Isle of Skye, one needs to check expectations about hotel costs. We probably paid for one night at this guest house more than anywhere else during our trip in Scotland. This is the reality of Isle of Skye, accommodations are exhorbitant and hard to find. Yet, the guest house was very nice, clean, comfortable and well located. The host was very nice, fun and welcoming and very helpful. While breakfast was not included, a CoOp is next door with fresh bread and bakeries available.

Parking was hard to come by but this is the rule just about everywhere in Scotland. Be ready to be creative and do not expext to be next or even close to where you stay or visit.

Great location- right on the Main Street or area of Portree where we wanted to be! Perfect for backpackers or foot traffic guests (not so good if you need parking). Ruth was a kind and gracious host- the room was super cozy, neat and welcoming- and spiffy clean! Would come again any time!

We might have planned differently had we known that the town of Portree is pretty dead on Dundsyd. Very few restaurants we open and those that were open were booked or had long lines.

The guesthouse is perfectly located in the heart of Portree, close to restaurants and cafes. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. Ruth is a very organised and nice host, she provided all the necessary information before our arrivals which made it easier.

The information that Ruth emailed was of great help. The room and on-suite was clean and comfortable. The tea and coffee facilities were welcome.

The stair treads were very narrow but Ruth did explain that in the email. The nightly rate was expensive compared with the other B&B's/ Hotels that we stayed at while in Scotland and also there was no breakfast included. There was no guest parking either.
