Anglebury House

I checked in with a friend. We inspected the room and left after 30 minutes as we were not prepared to stay. The bathroom floor had not even been swept and smelt of stale urine. The bath was dirty and obviously not cleaned. The sideboard was sticky where it had not been cleaned and the beds sheets had human hairs stuck to them. The carpets have not seen a cleaner for months!! Although we returned the key to the young man behind the bar explaining that we were not prepared to stay as the cleanliness was so poor, he did not apologise or say anything about rectifying our problems, and I have heard nothing from the owners, so I would imagine they do not care. I have photo's of everything we found. I would not recommend this place.

I thought a bit expensive for 1 night.

I stayed here for 3 nights as a single traveller and felt very safe. The building is very old ( 1500s) and so there are lots of quirks as you would expect. The room and bed were very comfortable. The bathroom was small but was fine for me. There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room. The room I had faced on to the street and it can be a noisy street because of the very large lorries that rumble through ( no fault of the hotel). However I found that the noise stopped about 10pm but it did start early on a morning( 6am) with various deliveries to the shops in the street - again not a fault of the hotel but if you are a light sleeper this might be a problem. I had breakfast at the hotel each morning which was always freshly cooked and every member of staff that I encountered was very pleasant. It was an easy walk from the train station to Anglebury House ( maybe 10 mins). If I visit Wareham again I would look to stay here again as it is very centrally located.

Taking into consideration the age of the building and the constraints that come with this there wasn't anything to complain about.

On the main road, easy to spot. The breakfast included in the price was cooked to order. The full english breakfast choice was very good.

If i need to nitpick, I would like the rooms a bit brighter. It’s an old building do expect tight spaces, low roof, creaky floors and low water pressure. You can park by the road side but will need to circle a few times, hopefully shoppers at the nearby grocery store will leave soon enough.
