Maya Guest House

Maya, the owner, was absolutely charming and welcomed us with a delicious Turkish coffee. She gave lots of information on things to see and do within Sighnagi and also offered great tours provided by her son (we actually didn't do any) and is up front and honest about the pricing. Without a doubt, the best thing is the spectacular view from the terrace/balcony...on a clear day, and we were lucky to have a couple, it was just gorgeous spanning the Alzani valley, city walls and Causacus mountains in the distance. The accommodation itself was spotlessly clean and our room was bright and airy( option to open the window and shutters onto the passing street) The beds were super comfortable. . There is a shared kitchen with cooker, refrigerator, kettle.in order to prepare your own food and hot drinks. Tap water totally drinkable. Would highly recommend.

There were so many positives that it feels bad to highlight, what we considered to be negatives. Would definitely have given a 9 out of 10 (nothing is perfect) without these little niggles... 1 There are opaque glass doors from the room to the corridor. With a light on inside the room you can definitely see inside (not fully but enough that you feel you lack privacy). Equally, the corridor lights at night were disturbing ( we unscrewed them because we couldn't find the switch). An easy fix would be a curtain inside the room. 2 Sound insulation between rooms is poor. We could hear our neighbours talking (not a huge issue) but actually moving around in bed as it was so squeaky 3 One shower/toilet for the shared rooms and they are together. . It actually wasn't an issue at all for us being low season but can imagine that it could be. Of course, this is a very personal review and everyone is different. Regardless of the above, would still highly recommend and to reiterate the views are amazing and Maya was delightful.

The owner is very friendly, the facilities were comfortable and clean. Nice view from the balcony. The WiFi worked well.

*FALSE ADVERTISING* I booked a bed in a 5 bed, mixed dorm. When I got there, in reality it was a 3 bed room, with the beds very close together, and already one male in the room, apparently occupying the middle bed. Meaning that whatever other bed I chose (as a solo female), would be very close to his. I’m sure he was fine, it’s not a judgement against this person. But, being that we were the only 2 people in the whole place for the night, it was definitely too close for comfort. It was a room situation that you would share with a close friend or intimate partner. Not at all comfortable with strangers. Mind you, I’ve been traveling like this for over 25 years and have had many shared “mixed dorm” situations in that time. I declined this room and my next option in this place was a private room for twice as much. When I asked the owner about what I booked online and what I was offered, she said “it’s a mixed dorm!” And then tried to pass off the incorrect listing as “oh, 10 years ago we had a 5 bed dorm”. 🙄 Regardless, this is false advertising (such a room does not exist here), and as a female who might be shoved into this tiny space with strangers (especially of the male variety), I would not recommend it. The deceptiveness alone is very off-putting.

Мы немного заблудились и хозяин привез наш на своей машине. Хозяйка сварила нам кофе, помогла с некоторыми вопросами, подсказала информацию.

Очень классное месторасположение с балконом с видом на алазанскую долину, тихо и спокойно, чисто, хозяйка очень хорошая!

great location 5 mins to bus station， not on top or bottom of the hills ， it is near tower quiet not on the main road good views kitchen availble clean friendly

Maya ist eine sehr sehr nette und hilfsbereite Person. Das Frühstück für 20 Lari pro Person ist auch sehr lecker und frisch zubereitet.
