Apartment Špehar

The apartment is rather spacious and nicely equipped. Communication with the host was easy and efficient. We parked the car for free right next to the building, there was plenty of space.

Large apartment. Parking onsite. Lots of decorations and wall pictures made the place feel like home. Convenient wall plugs and well equipped kitchen. Large grocery store nearby. It has a country feel with a large yard.

WiFi was a little weak.

We hired a car in Split to drive to Plitvice area. The apartment was easy to find using sat nav/google maps and sign-posted from the road. When we arrived our hostess came from the garden to show us the apartment. No English is spoken but it was all friendly and we were touched to be offered a glass of homemade liqueur to drink with our hostess. The apartment has plenty of space indoors and a nice outdoor seating area. The bed was comfortable, there were plenty of bathroom towels and the shower was fine. The hostess's daughter and her children were around a bit also, and Rambo the dog and a cat. The garden is great, you can tell that they spend a lot of time and effort on it. Nearby are a Tommy supermarket, petrol station and other shops. A short walk away is a hotel where we had a decent burger one night. The other night we cooked at the apartment. We bought ingredients for a picnic lunch at the Tommy. It's a really easy drive to Plitvice Lakes which are spectacular! We booked our tickets for 8am entry slot at Entrance 2. By the time we had been round the medium distance trail (we took about 4 hours including coffee and lunch stops) the park had filled up with tour groups so get there early. When we came to check out the hostess was not around so we locked up and left the key in the door. I left a hat behind, so if you find it, enjoy it! I'd recommend the apartment. Yes, it is the ground floor of a family home but the family are so careful not to intrude that it feels private. It's a great location and a really bargain price.

There were no provisions such as oil in the kitchen, and not toiletries or soap in the bathroom. Maybe sometimes people buy them and leave them. There was no coffee maker and no plugs in the sink, basin or bath, but it doesn't matter for a couple of days and such a reasonable price! My husband was woken by a dog barking and the cockerel started soon after that, but I wear earplugs and didn't hear a thing!!

Perfect location to visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park. The host was very welcoming, the room large and comfortable. Definitely recommended!
