Casa Qatzij - Guest House, Lake Atitlan

The room was full of mosquitoes. Within a few minutes I had three bites. I asked the host what I could do and he gave me a spray. I sprayed the room but got two more bites. I left the guest house and asked for a refund of my reservation, but it was denied.

Llegamos en la feria de la localidad y el parqueo se complicó. También solo en u a de las habitaciones habían zancudos que pueden ocasionar molestia, por lo que se debe llevar repelente. En la otra no habían.

The staff here are so so lovely and will back you feel at home and part of the family. I really enjoyed speaking with the volunteers and they did everything possible to make me comfortable and help me. The guesthouse is really homey and creates a very relaxing atmosphere.

This is just me personally, but I was really disappointed in the property - outside of the main house, the place felt like it was in the middle of building projects - it felt a bit unloved and unkept. The rooms are basic and relatively clean. It is a budget guesthouse, so it does reflect the price. However, I did book to stay in the solo room with attached bathroom and there was a large gap between the walls and the ceiling - as someone who is afraid of spiders and other insects, I was really uncomfortable and unhappy with this. The volunteer was amazing and fully understood and put me in another room, although this too had a gap, so the door did not fully close. Again, the volunteer was amazing about this and offered me to move again, but by this stage, I decided I was going to leave the next day and stay somewhere else, so I agreed to just stay in the room that night, as I didn’t want to cause anymore fuss. The owner has been away for a while, so this may explain why the place looked unkept and untidy, but it does have so much potential to be a really lovely oasis in San Lucas.

No me gustó que me asignaron una habitación en el exterior de la casa qué en nada se parecía a las instalaciones de la casa mayor. Esa habitación no tenía sellado entre la pared y el techo y podía entrar una sabandija. La habitación muy rústica, no me gustó para nada .

El lugar es ideal para conocer personas de otras partes del mundo, ya que muchas personas que visitan el lago para aprender español viven en la casa. El lugar es amplio y tranquilo, la compañía de la perrita Kqtzij, nos alegro mucho nuestro tiempo. Disfrutamos mucho del diseño dla casa, nos tomamos bonitas fotos en la sala. Disfrutamos de la amplia variedad de libros disponibles para leer. La cocina tiene gran variedad de hierbas condimentos, usualmente son cosas que son complicados de empacar, contar con dichos condimentos nos hizo sentir en casa.

Hay algunos sitios que tienen espacio de mejora como la calidad de los colchones.

I had an amazing stay here! The accommodation is perfect and peaceful with a nice set up to relax and hang out. The hostel had a very inviting and cosy atmosphere and the volunteers and the owner were just amazing!

Was so homey and such a nice atmosphere. Exquisite interior with cute fireplaces and beautiful location close by the lake. A must if visiting Lake Atitlan.
