Ayodya Batur Villa

The staff was excellent, especially the manager Ketut. She assisted with anything I needed, and there wasn’t anything that wasn’t taken care of. From meals, to coordinating a hiking tour and drivers, and providing guidance that a local would know for things I was interested in. Great location at the base of mt batur’s lava field. It was quiet and peaceful and except for my adventures I didn’t leave the property. I had all my meals at the villa; the food was local and good (especially the fruit).

They were always maintaining the property while I was there; mostly the grounds from what I saw. It would make the property even better if they freshened up the original buildings with a coat of paint. They could do it during the tourists slow season.

The hotel offers a stunning view of Mount Batur—especially at sunrise, when you can see the line of climbers’ lights on the volcano. We booked two rooms and received a free upgrade, which was a lovely surprise. It’s very peaceful; we barely saw other guests. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the beds are comfortable. Meals are simple but delicious, and they can deliver food to your room, so you can dine at a table right outside while enjoying the view. Tours to Batur can be arranged.

The water heater is small, so filling the bathtub may not be possible. The hotel is hard to find—there are no signs, and one road from the lake is impassable for cars. Use a map and plan your route carefully.

Amazing view and hospitality by the host. The gardens are well maintained and the view is exceptional in the afternoon sun on the deck.

Ketut and her family were cherries on the cake. Amazing rooms, view, and service. Would say this is a must stay when you’re in the area. The view from your suite of the lava flow and volcano (Mt Batur) from this location is outstanding. Pristine. And thank you to Ketut and her family for making our stay so special.

The towels have seen better days. They look a bit grey. The decor of the room is a bit dated. But the bed was comfortable at least. The toilet ceiling was leaking because it rained that night. But it wasn't a big problem.

The location is very down the hill so after 5-6 pm you will not get any vehicle to commute to the hotel. We called up hotel lady and she just said you take the local grab or gojek but we already tried those options and when we didn’t get the vehicle then we called up and she didn’t even help. Luckily Some local man was going on a bike he offered the ride to hotel and we paid 20k IDR per person to him.

The view of the mountains is good, the staff was helpful. Clean room with hot water and air con and sitting area.

Access to the property is a bit remote, can’t walk to the city center and grab is difficult to come by. You have to have your own transportation. Limited menu, we were the only guests there at the time. We ended up leaving one day early as the property lost power around midnight to morning. Couldn’t work due to power outage and loss of internet. Steep steps but that’s because the property is built on the side of a mountain, it’s not for people with limited mobility. Still Waiting for one night refund for loss and unreliably of power….
