Kariappa House

I loved everything about Kariappa House - the warmth of the staff, the tranquility,the lap pool, the yoga on the terrace, the breakfast & of course the 2 dogs...! I will be back for a longer stay., Thank you for creating such a beautiful peaceful home.

A unique place to stay. The whole team running Kariappa House are superb - nothing too much trouble and they create a lovely, calm ambience. The pool is very welcome and because of the way it works you have it to yourself - incredible luxury! Overall a really relaxing place to stay. Thanks

Just to note really ie not really didn't like.... Rooms vary, we didn't like the first one we were shown - steep stairs so logistics - but quickly dealt with. I guess this means rooms do vary. Being c30 mins walk from main centre is in part good ie exercise and see different areas, but also in v hot weather means transport - rickshaw very easy to get so not an issue just a thing to think about.

This guest house is in a tranquil, green oasis in busy and vibrant Puducherry. We were bowled over by how lovely it was. It's very comfortable, tastefully furnished and the staff were exceptional. Mukesh, the Manager, ensured all our needs were fulfilled and couldn't have been more helpful. All the staff seemed to be genuinely pleased to assist the guests, from the delightful ladies who prepared our delicious breakfasts to the people who tended the gardens. Fantastic all round and cannot recommend highly enough. The best place by far that we stayed in during our 3 week trip to India!

Would have liked some chairs or loungers by the pool to relax on after a swim.

the property is so beautiful and peaceful.. the care taker Ramji was such a delight to talk to i will would like to also mention Mukesh at the front desk .. super sweet and extremely helpful. the property was such a delight .. tucked away with lot of greenery around .. best part no TV in the room .. perfect for couples to come and connect. the property is very close to all the eateries and bars and also to the beach .. will definitely go back again ..

This is a tropical oasis in a fascinating part of India. We loved the tropical gardens, the beautiful furnishings and a real home from home atmosphere where nothing was too much trouble. The food prepared by Vanaja was delicious (breakfast every day was varied and lots of it) and we loved the lunches she prepared specially for us. Mukesh and his team were so helpful whether organising currency or ferrying us into the heart of White town in the property’s electric tuk tuk (5-10 mins by tuk tuk or about 20-30 mins walk). We swam in the beautiful 23m pool every day as well - a real treat. Like all accommodation in India, you expect the odd little ‘rough around the edges’ aspect, but the authentic style and antiques of Kariappa House, the hospitality and everything it offers, gives you a real flavour of India - if you want glossy perfection, go stay in an international hotel that could be anywhere in the world!

The only thing we would have also liked was a sunny spot with some sun beds/chairs, but understand it is a shady spot out of the day’s heat. At night the ‘street dogs’ can get a bit noisy but obviously out of the control of Kariappa!

Beautiful house and swimming pool (which you can book for 1 hour beforehand) Location is fine, but it is app 20 min walk from the white town, so it is not central if that is what you are after. Breakfast is good. There could be more choice. I personally would have liked more Indian breakfast food and bread (dosai, roti, vada). Staff very friendly and helpful.

Small quiet place with chill athmosphere, tranquil oasis in the middle of busy streetlife. We liked the garden, open breakfast room, pool, our room, massage, friendly and helpful staff.
