Third Eye Ella

Stylish guesthouse just a short tuk-tuk or taxi ride down the hill to the lively village of Ella, which has a great vibe. The room was beautifully decorated and furnished, with stunning views across the valley to Adam’s Peak. There was a generous terrace with reclining chairs, perfect for enjoying morning coffee or evening drinks. The bed was super comfortable, and the room had excellent facilities, including a microwave. Breakfast was served on the pretty terrace outside the hosts’ home and was delicious and generous. The staff were wonderful—especially a friendly young man who helped with our luggage and perfectly represented the warm and helpful nature of Sri Lankan hospitality. I would highly recommend this gem for a stay in Ella.

We had a great stay at Third Eye Ella, the views from our balcony were beautiful, well worth all the steps up to the accommodation! The staff were friendly and accommodating, breakfast was great too, would highly recommend this accommodation

Everything is perfect. So close to town but quiet! No traffic sounds, no club beats at 2 AM, no dogs barking. In fact you get a private balcony overlooking a valley. Abisek is polite and professional and personable and his excellent service is another big plus.

Great location and fabulous view. Clean tidy room and big balcony. Lots of steps to get up to the room but extremely helpful staff managed our bags. In fact the staff were great. Just a note that there is a half finished building next door but that’s not unusually in Ella! Would recommend.

This is a private Guest House with only two rooms: Opal and Ruby. I think the owners are developing a third room but it looks like it is in progress. We stayed in the Ruby room, which was the floor above Opal. The room was beautiful, beautifully furnished, perfectly clean and the same with the bathroom. Comfiest bed and pillows in our whole Sri Lanka trip. The 4th wall was glass with a balcony and the view was breathtaking. We spent lots of time relaxing on that balcony. The breakfast was lovely and the staff so helpful. The location was perfect, right at the end of the main Ella strip, walking distance to everything, but quiet and serene (the strip can be very noisy). What I hadn't realised is to get to the Guesthouse you walk up a very steep road, and then a flight of stone steps. This leads to the owners house where they serve breakfast on the veranda. There is no hotel reception as such. To get to the rooms you have to walk up another flight of stairs to Opal, and a second flight to reach Ruby. But thats how you get the exceptional views on the balcony and from the room, but you have to be physically mobile to do this. For us the cardio was worth it, and the location meant we could come to and from the room throughout the day as we needed. We loved this accommodation and stayed for 4 nights. I think it was our favourite place out of everywhere we stayed in Sri Lanka.

I would recommend the owners put a sign at the bottom of the slope for Third Eye Ella, and also at the bottom of the stairs to the rooms, so guests know they have arrived at the right place. But there was nothing we didn't like.
