Villa Galanis

Villa Galanis is in the perfect location for anyone who wants a morning dip in the main town's closest beach. I started every day in the sea - just a few minutes' walk from the house. And then everything you want is only a brief stroll away. Loved the hospitality too - Tina could not do enough to make our stay perfect.

Can't think of any downsides - if you don't want the walk into town then it is at the furthest end of the harbour, but that suited us as it was closer to the beach.

If you've never been to Symi - you probably should visit if only to experience a quite unique harbour side location and vista. Villa Galanis is situated in a fantastic position with a stunning view of the town and harbour. The villa has 3 rooms that share a terrace at the front of the property. We stayed in the slightly smaller middle room and loved it. Tina & Dave were exceptional hosts, going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We really can't say enough about the superb way they look after their guests.

The location is perfect, on the seafront but away from the very busy port of Symi. Great restaurant next door.

The outside area is quite small and is shared with the residents of the other two rooms. In the morning the next door restaurant who uses the adjoining room is active very early so breakfast can be at bit noisy.

Lovely friendly place, peaceful and quiet. Small pebble beach for swimming with the fish just round the corner and great restaurant next door. Comfortable bed. Made super welcome by Tina, David and the cats

We loved our 5 night stay at Villa Galanis. Long before our arrival, Tina shared restaurant recommendations and taxi suggestions. Once we arrived, all our choices had been booked and put in place, making our visit so much more relaxing. Our room was sparkling clean, well set up, and blissfully quiet. Sitting out on the deck for an evening drink with the delivered ice cubes was always a lovely end of day. We enjoyed the privacy the deck afforded us, along with the opportunity to chat with guests from the other two rooms. Be assured Tina will do anything in her power to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Location is very good ….restaurant opposite on the water front is one of the best we tried.Room is fine , pretty basic but suitable for the stay.

On arrival we where told that we could ring any time Tina offered us ice for our drinks which we thought was a nice touch but a bit early as it about 4pm ….when I rang at 5:30pm I tried a few times when she answered she called me a “ bastard “ for waking her up…..she also added that she would “poke me in the eye with a stick if I rang her again at that hour” and “wasn’t it a bit early for drinks ? by this time it was 6:00pm….perfect in our world ! as believe it or not we where on Holiday.As you would imagine I asked her “ for a chat” as I have NEVER been spoken to by a host anything like this.She apologies in a child like fashion and clearly had no remorse or denied the words used.Meanwhile we had helped another person staying next door to access their room as Tina was having her “siesta”. Bizarre behaviour.Tina also needs to realise you can hear what she says about the “ bloody tourists” and other comments you would not connect somebody in the tourist trade.she clearly likes the income but the rest is a thin veneer of hatred to her potential clients. 02:30 woken by somebody beating the door down next door as they where clearly very drunk and did not have a key .funnily enough the same people who I helped the previous day as Tina “ wasn’t available” due to nap now I wonder what she called him ? ….maybe a bit stronger as I did at that time of day! Dave ( her partner/ husband )was sent in as “diplomatic advisor” to try and calm stirred waters on a few occasions during our stay who to be fair cracked a few jokes and was very amenable but sadly the damage had been done. Tina is overpowering , controlling and abusive … I feel sorry for Dave who clearly tries to clean up the “ broken glass “. Outside court yard is shared which could cause some issues if they wanted to sit in “your area”.High blue wall is ridiculous as no view of the harbour which is literally across the road.Needs wall dropping and wooden opening on hinges so you can at least try the view.

Wonderful hosts! Tina is very helpful and accommodating. The family's property is well taken care of, very clean, equipped with everything you need and sits right by the water at the quieter part of Symi.

Price is a bit steep but in all fairness, we booked it on the day we arrived. Also note that this was at the peak of the season.
