Casa Bozai

We were warmly welcomed upon arrival at Casa Bozai. The hosts were ready for us and made us feel at home right away. The room was spacious, clean, and included a private bathroom and a TV. What made it truly special was the beautiful cultural decor — full of local character and quite different from other parts of the country. It added a unique and memorable touch to our stay. Dinner was served at 7pm and was both generous and delicious. We enjoyed a variety of local dishes, cultural drinks, and homemade produce. Casa Bozai also offers locally made products for sale, giving guests the chance to take a piece of the experience home — a thoughtful addition that highlights the community’s craftsmanship and traditions Casa Bozai is run by hardworking people who clearly care about what they do. The peaceful surroundings and beautiful natural setting make it a great place to unwind and connect with local culture. If you're open to an authentic experience and don’t mind navigating a few language hurdles, it’s a stay worth remembering

Language and Communication One challenge we faced was the language barrier — the hosts do not speak English, and we don’t speak the local language. This made communication a little difficult at times, especially at the beginning. However, the hosts were patient and resourceful, and we were able to manage through gestures, translation apps, and goodwill. It didn’t detract from the overall experience, and we appreciated their effort and hospitality throughout

The hosts were warm and friendly and managed to overcome our language barrier with grace and good humour. They offered coffee when we arrived and home made Horica as soon as we sat down. The room was spacious, clean and so comfortable - the best bed in over a month of different hotels/pensiones! The ensuite bathroom was spotless. And the handmade embroidered wall hangings were simply beautiful. We were offered dinner for 50RON pp and it was a delicious 3 course traditional meal. This pensione is located in the traditional Romanian village of Breb in the mountains of Maramures. There is only a very weak internet signal but you will not miss it. A wander around the village and you will be so glad you switched off.
