Riad Dar Kassim

Good location near Medina, but almost accessable by car.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riad Kassim. it was so beautifully decorated, perfectly located, we felt so welcome & the staff made us feel right at home. Mahmoud was literally the most magical, nicest human being I have ever had the pleasure of coming into contact with. there was no hesitation when helping with directions, he took us to places and came back to pick us up when we went somewhere & always replied so quickly. we even had a chance to cook with him upstairs on the most beautiful terrace. Honestly, if I would have known how wonderful a visit this would have been I would have stayed longer. I will most definately be back. the aesthetic was so pleasant & Aya is such a beautiful soul. thank you for treating us like family Dar Kassim!

Really nothing. Some water stains on the glass door in the bathroom, if you are really picky. However overall it’s very clean and comfortable.

Breakfast: A full breakfast with fresh fruit, juice, omelet and a pot of coffee. Breakfast is served, and they cater to your requests as much as possible. Room: Everything was in good condition, there was heating (good to have during the cold seasonwith good water pressure, a comfortable mattress and pillows. Noise: I really appreciated that there was no piped music, no outside noise or foot traffic due to the location at the end of a small lane, close to the parking lot, yet far enough to hear nothing. Staff: Mahmoud met me at the taxi when I arrived and was such a genuinely sweet and charming host for my entire 5 day stay. I felt I was a family friend in no time at all. He made every attempt to ensure that I was comfortable and let me choose a different room than the one I had booked since the stairs to the second floor weren't to my liking. However the rooms are all special and nicely furnished, and the terrace above has a wonderful view of the city walls and the mountains. Special requests: I was interested in learning how to make a tagine and Mahmoud went out of his way to organize a cooking lesson for me. The chicken tagine with fava beans, artichoke, carrots and onions was so fun to make and we shared the meal with the owner's family. This in itself was one of the best memories I'll keep of Fez. Location: Dar Kassim is well located within the old city walls, near a taxi parking hub. However, you are also directly inside the medina and need never set eyes on any car. The main attractions of the Medina start within a 10 minute walk and all the important sites can be visited by walking. If you feel overwhelmed by all the small lanes and shops, just step into any restaurant that offers a terrace (most do) and you can relax with a view that will also take you back in time.

I can't think of anything I didn't like. I travel a great deal and this stay was very special.

Easily the most amazing space we stayed in in all our travels across Morocco. The riad itself is like a work of art, every corner detailed with artwork, colour, geometry, plants, stained glass. The rooms are so beautiful and spacious and the room service is excellent. We were so grateful to have met Mahmoud, who went above and beyond to show not just hospitality, but generosity and real friendship. Aya and the owner were also lovely souls. We were connected with a tour guide (Najib) through the riad and got an insider's eye into Fes' history, spirituality, and exquisite craftsmanship. Most special I think was Mahmoud's cooking class - we went through the souk to collect our ingredients together and then spent the evening making a sumptuous tajine together. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 12/10 stars!!

The riad was very beautiful and the staff Mahmoud was very friendly and helpful. He helped us with SIM card, money exchange, tour information and led us to nearby restaurants (it is really easy to get lost in Medina). We enjoyed our stay there!

We loved the Riad. It was very comfortable and Mahmoud was an incredible manager and took care of us. He was very helpful and we really enjoyed our stay at Riad dar Kassim. We will definitely be back soon.

The best thing about the riad is the people who run the place. Everyone was exceptionally helpful . One staff member even helped me look for a specific location in the medina that would’ve been difficult to find by myself.

Nothing I did not like

The property is in a key location of Fes el Bali. It is situated in the medina m, but still very close to the main roads accessible by car, which makes it comfortable when arriving from the airport. The staff was amazing, Mahmod is one of kind. Welcoming, kind and very helpful. He didn’t hesitate in pointing us in the right directions and always provided with great advices
