Gerês is a perfect base to explore the surrounding national park. The guest house is conveniently located, maybe 5-10 minutes walk from the centre of the village. There's a free parking space next to the house. The view from the balcony was amazing! The room itself was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the furniture a bit old but functional. The breakfast was a bit basic but very fair for the price. I was given a lot of helpful information on hikes in the area, including maps and brochures. Would stay there again.

On my first night I couldn't unlock the front door for half an hour, so the only negative thing was that nobody responded when I tried to reach out (was about 11.15pm). Eventually a friendly passer-by helped me out and managed to unlock the door (the lock turned out to be a bit tricky).
