Parreirais dos Moquinhos

Super room for that Price, very quiet, Everything there, very nice Lady😃

In the nice, quiet, little town of Minde is Parreirais dos Moquinhos and the owner, D. Maria. She runs a very, very comfortable and clean set of cottages that we thoroughly enjoyed staying at. There is private parking in a gated courtyard behind the cottages which are simple, clean and modern. There are very comfortable beds and a modern bathroom, along with a basic kitchen for light cooking. I don't remember if there was air-conditioning for the room, but it wasn't needed even in mid-September. It is an excellent value for the price. Parreirais dos Moquinhos is located central to Fatima Cathedral and to the numerous caverns that the region is famous for. I highly recommend going to at least two of them. We went to Grutas de Mira de Aire and Grutas de Santo Antonio. What made our stay special however, was D. Maria. She is a very educated and generous person who took excellent care of us. She volunteers at the local museum, which she graciously gave us a personal tour of. I did not ask if she spoke English, so it might be a Portuguese-only tour. Her family in the region goes back many generations, and the museum - although small – was very interesting. D. Maria is very knowledgeable and proud of the history there, and she spent about 2 hours with us. We learned quite a lot! She also suggested we try a restaurant that locals frequented. They had great BBQ'd veal and cod. Many thanks and much appreciation for D. Maria.

This was a very convenient stop on the Camino de Fatima to break up a very long, difficult stage. The accommodation was a great value, and although the bed was a bit firm, I was comfortable for the night. Grocery is nearby.

Lovely lady, made sure we had everything we needed. Close to the Intermarche. The bed was very big and comfortable. Clean and good shower.

It was humid and not enough heating to dry up. The bed was humid.

Place is great but not for winter

I was freezing cold all night.
