Guesthouse Ichigo Ichie Nikko

Not much.

To be honest we generally expected more from the property. The photo and price might of implied we would be in for something of a treat but there's nothing overly special about this property!! Perhaps we didn't read the description thoroughly enough but we thought the property was going to be a plush and cosy retreat in Nikko itself. In AUD it cost us over $500, it really wasn't worth that for two nights. The 4pm check in is far too late. Towels, and furniture were a little clapped out. (The broken coffee table and old couches made us feel it was all a bit 2nd rate) We obviously missed the detail while making our booking that the kitchen and bathroom were shared (our bad) and it actually left us without a kettle in the morning as the other guests upstairs had removed it from the kitchen!! We had the opportunity to speak with the host personally, who managed well to use our language shortcomings as an excuse not to understand. We've travelled enough to know there's better out there for the price. This place was a rip off and the town is not Nikko proper (though we had excellent meals in 3 local restaurants) We left disappointed and feeling stung.
