Delightful people running the place. Room was large and comfortable.

A light whirling sound in the room from the ventilation system. Still slept well.

La propreté. Le petit dejeuner. La gentillesse du personnel. Même en absence des propriétaires/gérants, ils ont aidé notamment pour la location de voiture.

Des travaux en cours empêchaient un accès facile à la lagune même si la résidence est en principe assez proche de l' eau.

Dar Rio Oro was an important stopover for us, and although the host was not present, she communicated with us throughout and ensured we had all the information needed for our onward journey into Mauritania. The guesthouse itself is beautiful and offers some of the best value in Dakhla, a city where prices are often inflated. The staff were incredibly accommodating, making a clear effort to engage with us despite language barriers. They even allowed us to leave our car while we travelled to Mauritania and kindly drove us to the bus station early in the morning.

The location is unremarkable with no significant views, and the whole of Dakhla is currently undergoing large-scale construction works which can affect the surroundings. The biggest drawback is that neither the host nor the staff speak English. All communication is done via WhatsApp and translation apps, so allow extra time if you do not speak Arabic or French.
