Villa del Rosario Hostal

It's an excellent location being so close to the centre,the river,supermarket etc. It's very clean and comfortable. Very good kitchen with lots of room in the common area to eat and hang out. The couple who run the hostel are really lovely and will do anything to help you. Definitely recommend this place!

We stayed 4 nights at this hostal. Location is perfect, hosts are charming (no english tho), wifi was great, bed comfy and warm. It was as well soo quiete at night! The only downside was the shower, from the shared banos, the water was kinda hot only in very low pressure...

I've been staying at Villa del Rosario regularly for about 5 years and love it. It's a real gem and the only place I stay when I am in Cuenca. The building is lovely, charming and full of character with a beautiful central courtyard garden. The location is perfect, right in the historical centre of the city and a few minutes walk from Abdon Calderon Park. It's excellent value for money. But it is the Villa del Rosario hosts, Dolores and Luis, who keep me coming back again and again. They are such kind and lovely people and make me feel like family.

I would recommend this hostel to those passing through cuenca or staying for a while. We arrived early at 5am and much to our delight the bed was available and the staff let us in to take a nap. The whole time the stuff were more than happy to assist us in any way possible. Despite us speaking very broken spanish and very broken english we were able to have a laugh and converse what was needed. It felt like a little family warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this hostel to people.

Just spent one night, but it was lovely. The hosts were helpful and friendly. Beautiful garden in the courtyard - really a little paradise in the busy city block. Clean and well-kept. Great food in the area too!

Don Luis and Delores where the most lovely hosts! They were just so sweet and made us feel right at home. We arrived at 6am after a long bus journey and he took us straight to the room and told us to rest! We also stayed late on our final day, waiting for a bus out of Cuenca. I was sick and they were so good about it too. Great location, good security, warm showers, ample kitchen facilities, lots of outdoor communal space. Really excellent value for money. We would definitely recommend!!

I stayed in this hostel for over 2 weeks and have nothing but high ratings for the people whom run this hostel. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The hostel has an open garden in the middle of the surrounding rooms. The people running the hostel maintain the place everyday and are very friendly and if you need something, they always try to help. There is a kitchen in the back area of the hostel to use with shelves and a refrigerator for food storage. Just outside the kitchen area are tables to eat at and a TV lounge just beyond that area. This is a very comfortable and quiet place to stay in Cuenca and is close to many places for your exploration of the history of Ecuador. I highly recommend and will stay when I next arrive in Cuenca.

Stayed 2 nights with my son. It was a beautiful hostel loved my stay. The staff were so friendly and nice. Amazing value for money so clean and comfortable will recommend to friends. We stayed here for five days between Xmas and New Year. Great location, within two blocks of the river and very close to the cathedrals. Room was small, but with ample storage space to put away suitcases and hang clothes. Bathroom also very small, but ample hot water at all times. Room had been completely redone so everything was spotless. Don Luis and his wife were as sweet and helpful as could be. Overall, we were very happy. All that we needed for our trip. A food recommendation - one block up the street towards the main square and very close to the little police station is a little lunch place that is always packed. Whiteboard outside announces daily specials. We had great lunches there for $2.

We stayed about 4 nights in a room at Villa deal Rosario and rather liked it. It isn't flashy and has almost a bit of a damp feel to the rooms but they're are at a great price and we had access to the kitchen, which made our Cuenca stay much cheaper. It is in a great location, very near to the town centre and river. The people running it did not speak English but we're very helpful. It is a very old house that has been made into a hostel. We stayed on a room near the kitchen with our own bathroom and it was all great.
