I can't share a bad experience.

I loved this place! It wasn’t fancy but had a definite charm. Beautiful rural setting with goats out back and farms and a scenic river across the street that apparently is good for fishing. The food and beer in the bar were excellent and very affordable. The owner was friendly and informative. I enjoyed talking to him. He had worked in the US and Canada so he spoke English well.

There is not a whole lot to do in the town itself. But it is close to the national parks and Banská Bistrica. I used it as a place to stop for the night between Spis Castle and Bratislava.

The room and bathroom themselves were very comfortable and clean, with a nice balcony (although this was shared so not much privacy). This is the only reason I have given the property 3 stars and I still think that is overly generous.

Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding on my part about payment for the room- I thought I had already paid on booking.com as I had given them my card details so I did not go to pay at the end of the visit. This was also due to not being instructed to pay at the end when I first checked in. After I had left, I received an aggressive text from a member of staff threatening to report me to the police if I did not contact them asap and warning me about ‘serious consequences’. I rang later that day as I had been driving for 6 hours so unable to check my phone and was again threatened on the phone by a member of staff who, when called out on his disgusting attitude, told me he ‘did not care’ and would ensure that I could not use booking.com again. He also told me he thought it was ‘strange’ that I did not come down into the restaurant/bar after the first morning (this was due to a pathetic offering for breakfast and rowdy drinking customers in the evening which put me off). If I had still been at the hotel and been spoken to like how I was on the phone I would have felt extremely unsafe as a solo 25 year old female! At no point was it acknowledged that I had made a genuine mistake, instead I was treated like a criminal and insulted on the phone. In addition to this, on my first night I had the misfortune to have to listen to the couple in the suite next door screaming and shouting until 1am and making banging noises which I can only assume was them having very unrhythmic sex. I would not recommend this hotel to any traveller but especially not any solo female ones!

Modern and clean apartment Very kind staff Location is good - great opportunity to go for a walk or hiking. Dog friendly :) For us 9/10

- kitchen utensils and pots very limited - Hamburger seemed to be not from fresh meat but it was frozen food. We would expect fresh meat for that value.

Everything was great, the staff is super polite and helpful. The room we were in was perfect for 2 people and it looks super amazing. The food was delicious. The location is beautiful and very quiet.

Looks even better than on the photos. Ther room was quiet, clean, looking like new and with comfortable beds. Good value for money EV charging station is next door. Will definitely come again at the next opportunity.

Limited food variety for breakfast might be a downside for some quests.
