Mario is a very nice host, he made sure that we had a nice time, we had everything we needed for a couple of nights, the whole house all to ourselves, with restaurants and supermarket nearby. The house is conveniently located to explore the beauties of Sintra, and there is plenty to see. The highlight of our time in Sintra was Monserrate, but Regaleira and Pena also have something special, we would not have missed them. Some amazing beaches are also relatively close by car or bus, we hiked from Cabo da Roca to Ursa Beach, and it was highly worth it. Taxi services are quite cheap and convenient, but buses are also available and run regularly.

Due to the high humidity the house smelled a bit musty, and it was a bit cold, but we had heaters in most rooms too make it warmer.

La ubicación era muy buena, estaba a penas 10 minutos del centro histórico andando. La casa es fría pero con la estufa de gas y con los radiadores la verdad es que se está estupendo. Sobre Mario, la verdad es un excelente anfitrión, nos salvo la vida para revivir la batería del coche. Volveremos sin duda.

A very unique wonderful stay, perfect location for our visit to Sintra. The “Stone House” is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The host Mario was exceptional in welcoming us and providing directions to local facilities and attractions.

Great place to stay in Sintra. The house is old and very beautiful, with old furniture and decorations. In the summer it is great to have the opportunity to sit on the terrace. But we were not very lucky with the weather, so we did not take advantage of it. Conveniently located in the center, just 10 minutes on foot from the train station. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby where you can eat. The historic center and castles are easy to walk to or take a taxi, which is inexpensive (we used the Bolt app). Mario is a very attentive host, always in touch, and he helped us a lot with his recommendations for places to visit around. From Sintra you can take a bus to Cabo da Roca and Cascais. We really enjoyed our stay in Sintra.

The first day it was cold in the house, but there were electric heaters and we warmed up later. In the future, I would suggest the owner to warm up the house before guests arrive. Otherwise, no complaints.

Communication with host Mário was very good. He genuinely wants guests to feel at home and have everything they need, often providing special, personalized things on arrival. In my case, I appreciated not having to go out for food on my first evening. The house is spacious, with antique furniture, personal collections and books, eclectic artwork, armchairs, a rocking chair! and a TV. Very well-equipped kitchen, plenty of dishes, cutlery and pots, a dishwasher, gas stove/oven, clothes-drying rack (no washing machine access by guests, but laundry is being done on the porch off the kitchen). The wall clock in the kitchen has an actual battery in it. ;-) (Often I encounter non-functioning clocks.) Lots of printed information is provided about what to do in the area. When booking through booking.com, you send a deposit to host Mário via bank transfer, then can pay the balance in cash on arrival.

We had an amazing stay at Mario's lovely and cosy house! Mario was incredibly friendly and welcoming, greeting us with fruits and sweets upon arrival. He also gave us plenty of helpful advice to make the most of our visit. The house itself is wonderful, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the city centre, and there’s a charming small terrace outside to relax. We will definitely be coming back! Highly recommended.

The house was a charming stone house with so much character. Clean and with everything you could need, located in the heart of Sintra. Mario, the host, was the friendliest, loveliest person who met us at the house and showed us everything, and provided free water, cakes, chocolate, fruit and drinks. He told us about great local restaurants and bakeries to eat at. Best of all he was waiting with a free parking space he had blocked for us at the front of the house - parking is otherwise insane in Sintra and near impossible to find. This was easily the best stay in our month-long trip around Portugal. Would definitely love to come back and stay again!
