Posada Familiar El Dorado

The staff is very welcoming and nice. Gave us some recommendations to eat and were available if we needed anything. The bed were comfy. The shower was clean.

It smells a bit humid were the rooms are. But... you get used to it after a couple of minute. I didn't mind as much as my wife.

Really nice family managing the posada. Basic but clean room. Parking in the street but also a dedicated one for the posada.

No windows in the room so no natural light.

Very friendly and accommodating host/staff. They offered that we could park our 2 motorcycles in their private garage (it can only just hold 2 motorcycles). Easy access to the place (some other accommodations in town are located on extremely steep streets). The whole place including the room is very clean. Good coffee/tea anytime of day for 15 pesos. Located in "rustic" neighbourhood downhill from the downtown area. Small grocery shops, restaurants, laundry etc right by the hotel. The walk up to the town square will improve your fitness - not to mention the +2 km hilly walk to Las Pozas.

The house is built on a slope. The rooms are all downstairs. The moist climate in the area makes keeping the mildew in check a challenge. Even though the place is very clean it smells slightly stall in the rooms (but not in the rest of the house). Wifi is stable but very slow. The walk up to the town square requires some level of fitness - not to mention the +2 km hilly walk to Las Pozas at the opposite end of town.

Nice guesthouse in a pretty good location, in a quiet neighbourhood walking distance from downtown. It's just a walk up the stairs to the highway and public transportation. Staff were very nice - especially Miguel - and happy to serve tasty cups of coffee on order, which was great on those rainy Xilitla days. Clean and comfortable, with good hot showers.

The wifi was really, really bad. The staff did warn me of this beforehand, though, and it might be pretty typical for Xilitla. I ended up having to use my phone data (Telcel) instead.

Very quiet rooms. Secure parking for two motorcycles.

Rooms had no windows. Difficult to get fresh air in them.

It’s really a beautiful place with all the fruit plants around and the big kitchen…

The price on booking is wrong and they want to charge the double of what it is in booking. I think the more expensive price is worth for what you get. But still if you are in search of an affordable place it’s missleading and they should fix that…
