IL TRULLO Modern Rooms is a great hotel for an overnight stay in Brindisi. It is very close to the train station, and is just two blocks off of the main street. The hotel is small: it has only three rooms and uses self check-in. The check-in instructions provided are sparse. When you arrive, you ring the buzzer on the intercom. Someone answers (probably from an off-site location). Once they understand that you have a reservation (that took a bit of repeating in Italian on the intercom that I had a reservation through Booking.com), you get buzzed in to the building – and they tell you which room is yours. There is a reception desk, but no one is there. Instead, you look for the key on a key rack above the desk. You then grab your key, go upstairs with your luggage, and then enter what is an old room that has been remodeled quite nicely. It is clean, the wifi works, and the air conditioner does the job. Perhaps the nicest touch is that, rather than providing a stated breakfast, they put breakfast items (packaged baked goods) on the room desk. They also put a juice and some water in the refrigerator, so that you can make yourself a continental breakfast in the morning. I think this is a brilliant idea, and wish more hotels without a formal breakfast service would do this. The only recommendation I would make is to bring your own coffee mug. They provide two little paper cups that won’t hold a hot or cold liquid for more than a few minutes. You also will need a WhatsApp account to send them your passport/ID photo, as there is no one at the hotel to photocopy it. Alternately, you could bring a photocopy of your passport/ID and leave the hard copy on the desk along with the cash needed to pay the Brindisi hotel tax (currently 2.50 euro per person per day) on the desk. I would stay there again.

Need better check-in instructions prior to arrival. Their system makes sense, once you understand it, but nothing about this check-in is intuitively obvious. The paper cups provided for coffee/tea are simply inadequate.

Top locatie op loopafstand van het station. Zeer goede prijs- kwaliteitverhouding. Keurige schone kamer met een prima bed en verrassend goede douche.
