Nice sized room, good dining and lounge area, nice breakfast, everything clean. We asked for the keys before the standard check in, which was granted. We were very appreciative of this, as we were attending an event. Friendly staff member upon arrival. We were given a recommended taxi company, which arrived very quickly after we attended the Radio 2 event.

The guest house smells of cigarette smoke, especially in the lounge area and dining area. Even our room smelled of it. As a non-smoker I found, this to be unpleasant. I'm not sure why, with current and long standing guidelines it smelt like this. I can only assume the staff smoke somewhere, where it wafts inside. The noise from cars driving past, disturbed my sleep. My bed was too springy. Luckily another bed in the room was more firm, which was more comfortable. We were waiting 15 minutes to be seen at breakfast. As we sat down, one of the staff saw us, but chose not to greet us until she brought our breakfast to us. It felt like she was going through the motions of her job. She could have been a little more friendly.

Mr & Mrs Pooley had provided lots of thoughtful extras in the bedrooms over and above what you would normally expect. The breakfast was very good.

The room (deluxe triple) was very quiet even next to the road and it was very clean and plenty of space for 3 of us, excellent having the onsuite bathroom with shower. Good price and nice breakfast. The owner was very nice and helpful. You are given a key to go about your business so you can return at your leisure. My group visited a local nearby town and returned at midnight with no problems.
