Higher Barton Guest room

The landlady was very pleasant and welcoming. The room was perfectly situated and the bed was very comfortable.

The room was cosy and the bathroom was spacious.

I could not find any bad features.

I did not stay the night, I left. This should not be listed on booking.com. It is not a proper establishment. There are no proper locks on the doors, there is no division between the guest area and where the woman who lives there is. I did not feel safe to stay and the bed was not a proper bed, you could feel the springs through the mattress and it was like a camp bed. Inappropriate behaviour on the part of the woman renting it.

Great host & a lovely house. I stayed on a very hot day & the room was beautifully cool. Access to your own facilties for cooking (microwave, mini oven) with your own fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle etc. Would definitely stay again & a great price.

It's location was near my camping site Thorny Lake. It was a single room and was charged in a single room's price Many hotels do not have any single rooms to let out. They could charge you a full double room's price even though I was on my own. It had a family sharing bathroom but the proprietor used her bathroom in the house which was in a separate area. The house was in a quiet area. Some street parkings were available opposite the back access of the house leading to the single room. I was told that the area was secured but the proprietor did not lock the gate and the back door of the house. It could be a good point for me as I did not have to draw the keys out to open the doors. The bed was comfortable. It had a small fridge, a small freezer, a small electric oven, a small microwave, a toaster, a kettle. They were quite handy. I had an adequate supply of instant coffee, English tea bags and other herbal tea bags. The room and the toilet were quite clean.

The WIFI was very poor. It was mouldy smell and the room and the bathroom were quite damp. But it was a very old house and damp is a common problem The check out time was 10:00 am. There were too many notes everywhere telling you what you could not touch or use and what you should do and should not do hence the notes made me feel a bit tense psychologically. My thoughts were if you did not like people to use the towels or anything in the bathroom, just remove them and put them away and if you did not like people to use the bin for throwing the food waste or the food packaging. Just remove the bin away from the bedroom and only use the plastic waste bags. It could cut down some notes warning. There were far too many here and there. The room was very dark and not enough natural light Anyway I hope that it would not be taken as a complaint but just constructive advice. Lastly The WiFi name on the note board needed to be updated , as it was wrong. Anyway i am quite flexible and not demanding at all. .

It is an excellent, very nice house and the family is excellent. I recommend it to everyone. The place is beautiful and a lovely place. I will return as many times as I can. It is a cozy place.

The kindness the amazing value for money,I stayed in a private room with a bathroom with bath .... and shower facilities /clean towels and toiletries etc The room had Clean Bedding..fridge/ Freezer Small grill Plenty of tea and coffee and (biscuits) I truly cannot fault it and I've travelled around the world ..Great value for money..I'll definitely re book and stay again ..x Thanks Debra..

Nothing springs to mind The local train station is about 6 miles away so which is Perfect

The property was in a quiet and peaceful location. Easy to access.

There was a fridge, but it wasn’t switched on. It would have helped to have it cold ready to keep milk etc cold.
