The Chestnuts

Hayley and Nick were so friendly. My family have stayed with them a few times and they always remember us and are so pleasant to chat to.

There was nothing that I disliked.

Everything really. Room was great. Breakfast was excellent. It was friendly and welcoming.

To help Nick and Hayley organise breakfast guests are asked to complete a form the night before with their requirements. This works well for everybody. Quality of all food is superb. Variety of cereals, muesli, granola, white and brown bread, toaster, juices, and dishes of yogurt, grapefruit, and berries are all set out on table in corner - self service. Cooked full English breakfast to follow was my choice which was beautifully cooked and tasty. One could have continental breakfast instead, or a breakfast catering for Vegans. Tea was served tasty and hot in a pot with accompanying mug and one could have more too. Coffee also served at one's table. Condiments and lovely little pots of jam, marmalade, marmite, and serviettes were available on each tableThe dining room was large and bright with plenty of daylight pouring through large windows. Tables and chairs were very solid, sturdy and comfortable and guests were not too close together just enough space allowed if they wanted to talk to each other. Everything about breakfast and its location was perfect in my view and as a solo traveller I felt at home.

My markings indicate that I found nothing wrong and disliked nothing. The only thing I had to get used to in my room (Room 12) was that I found the spout of the modern tap so close to the modern wash hand basin that I could never get my hands underneath when washing them. Had to run water over them with hands side on to bowl!! Self closing toilet seat kept shifting slightly even after Nick fixed it for me. Think fact that it's fittings were plastic and not metal might have had something to do with it. No problem though when one got used to it and I had only booked the room for two nights.

Nice small B&B...very clean and tidy.

I would like to have been able to buy soft drinks and snacks there...nothing but breakfast for an hour...and a form of choice to be filled in by 10pm...I would prefer to decide when I sit down for breakfast...very quiet and peaceful but found room too small...

Very friendly. I felt at home away from home.

The Chestnuts ist ein wunderbares B&B. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und gepflegt. Es gibt einen schönen kleinen ruhigen Garten und von der Straße aus kann man schon das Meer sehen. Die Gastgeber sind besonders freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück ist top.

Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen war, dass das Einzelzimmer zwar Tageslicht durch die Milchglastür bekam - und auch das moderne kleine Bad ein kleines Milchglasfenster hatte - , aber es leider kein richtiges Fenster gab und recht dunkel war. Ich hatte aber eine gute Zeit hier und das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis war hervorragend.

Het ontbijt was uitgebreid, lekker en zeer goed georganiseerd (formulier met keuzes in te vullen zodat verspilling wordt tegengegaan). Alles is uiterst proper. De host is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het pension ligt dicht bij het strand, bushaltes, het station, het oude stadscentrum, dus prima gesitueerd. Op vlak van prijs-kwaliteit zit je hier zeer goed.

Wij sliepen in een kamer aan de voorzijde, waar er veel lawaai was van het verkeer, toch als je het raam open wilde. Als je een lichte slaper bent, is het iets om rekening mee te houden. De WiFi werkte niet op de kamer. Het signaal was te zwak. We hebben dit echter niet gemeld tijdens ons verblijf, dus voor hetzelfde geld had het opgelost kunnen worden.

The breakfast was as I had asked for. The location was easy to find and it was the middle of what I had planned to do, which was to see my family and do some fishing as I always do when I'm on the island.

I found that the shower was a bit too small for me so I had to use my family's.
