The location is good, right next to the lake!

It was one of the worst stays ever. No hot shower, broken shower head, broken tap, broken door, no wifi in the room, can’t flush the toilet. Isolation was absolutely horrible, you can hear literally everything all three neighbours are doing in their room.. they don’t even provide soap or shampoo, absolutely nothing except 2 towels and paper.. they are also severely understaffed, to order a meal at the restaurant you have to wait 30 minutes (I am not exaggerating :/ ) The waiter was very nice though.

They should write if they provide or not some amenities, so guest will know what they are expecting/preparing beforehand.

Everything has been great! The room was super clean, with a big bathroom and facing directly on the lake. The staff is simply amazing: they are very helpful and peaceful and their good vibes really made the difference to us! The food at the restaurant is delicious.

I read previous comments on no insonorisation, thought people were exaggerating but really you can hear people sneeze on the street. Bring earplugs 🙂

I loved my stay. The room is spacious and has a balcony with lake view. But what really makes this place special is the bar restaurant. The food is delicious, the service great, and they often casually play live music in the evening -- being really good musicians! It's sad to leave a place like this.

The rooms are very nice!! They're very spacious and clean. The bathroom had a strange smell, but it went away when it rained. We liked having the room overlooking the lake. The staff is lovely. The dogs are adorable; you don't feel intimidated when you eat and they look at you. They always dropped something from my plate. The food in the restaurant was very good; everything was delicious. The service was a little slow, but you have beautiful views of the surroundings. Take it easy and don't stress; you're on vacation, and it's worth the wait.

The stairs leading to the rooms can be a bit dangerous

As everyone else has pointed out, the views are stunning. The food in their restaurant is also good and the owners are smiley.

This place could be so great but there are things that let it down. Of course from the price and reading other reviews we knew what to expect with budget accommodation, but the state of the headboard on the bed (full of grease marks and stains) as well as the smell coming out of the bathroom was unpleasant. We stayed for 3 nights and on 2 of those 3 nights there was live music that carried on past midnight(!!) which was so loud it felt like a concert in the bedroom, except it wasn’t a pleasant concert it was someone screaming at the top of their lungs, and still audible through earplugs. One of the nights the music started at 10pm. There’s no advertisement about live music anywhere (which could have at least prepared us and made it more tolerable), rather it just seems friends of the guest house decide to play when they feel like it. It didn’t quite give us the peaceful break on Lake Toba that we were hoping for! When we checked in we were hurriedly showed to our room but given absolutely no information about the property (like restaurant opening hours) or the island or anything we could do on it. It feels much like a restaurant/bar with a few rooms attached that they don’t really care about
