"Comfortable and cozy ryokan in beautiful neighborhood with free access to onsen and close to center of town."

This ryokan located above the Takayama community onsen is located in a lovely part of the old town but provides easy walking access to the newer part of town by 10 min walk. We really appreciated the host’s hospitality and the room was very cute and comfortable. Use of the onsen was included in our stay and we especially liked the outdoor epsom salt bath!

Staying in a community focused public onsen is wonderful. When using the facilities you really felt welcomed by the community. Parking is fantastic. We used the onsen with my two boys and they were made to feel welcome.

"Best place in Takayama to get a traditional bath house experience."

Staying above a japanese bathhouse (sento) was amazing. The room is very big and traditional, with lots of carving in the wooden frames. It feels like going back in time. The bathhouse also sells some vegetables of a local farmer. We bought some and they were delicious. Using the sento to shower and relax in the hot bath was great. I highly recommend using it, it's free for guests. The owner was super nice and shared a cup of sake with us, as well as some stories about how this sento might be the oldest in Japan. We really appreciate the kindness. We highly recommend for anyone, especially foreigners that want to experience something unique.

To have only stayed one night, would've loved to stay longer.
