"Just great and memorable."

8.0

Ambience, location, hospitality. This was our first homestay anywhere in the world and it felt like staying at our own home. Starting from booking, arranging our transportation from the LGB International Airport to the facility, our welcome and the effort of the staff to make us feel at home was exceptional. The flexibility that the management and staff provided to meet our requirement made us feel like staying with our family. Service of the house staff, specially Jyoti and Fareed, was just superb. We will not forget the help of Jyoti and manager, Mr. Sarkar, in arranging overnight accommodation for our daughter and her fiance when she suddenly fell sick and had to be moved to stay with us. The service with a smile provided by the driver of the van, Babu, that ferried our family to and from the airport and back was appreciated. The delicious, home made food was an absolute plus. The chance to meet and mingle with an eclectic group of travelers from the four corners of the world including the Netherlands, Germany, England, Japan, New Zealand etc. in a homely setting was something that one would not normally encounter during a hotel stay. Meeting a group of female journalists from different parts of India who had come to the city for a seminar and being able to have a conversation in a close setting was enlightening. Thanks to Mr. Vishal Baruah and his mother, Mrs. Baruah, for ensuring that our stay was comfortable. From time to time they checked to make sure that our needs were taken care of. We shall always remember the warm send off. Hoping to come back for another stay in the near future. If someone is looking for a homestay in a homely environment in Guwahati and not a five star hotel, this is the place to be whether the visit is only for a day or longer. Our stay was a few days short of a month.

Initially for the first few days, hot water in the bath was an issue . This was subsequently resolved and I hope this won't be an issue going forward.

"A really kind and considerate place to stay that wanted you to have the best of times."

10.0

So well looked after for our family stay. Lots of tea. Delicious thali supper. Really helpful getting us transport and sight seeing ideas. In a city so a little noisy. Lovely family feel with old photos and heritage furnishings. Thank you

Probably just us but would have loved to have two pillows.

"A warm and familiar retreat, where hospitality feels like home."

10.0

Baruah Bhavan is a place I always return to when in Guwahati. It offers a comforting, home-like routine—tea on the terrace, walks by the river (though this time, construction along the riverside put that on hold), and homely rooms that make you feel at ease. Long, leisurely lunches at the dining table add to the warmth, making it feel less like a residency and more like being a guest at a family friend’s home. Special thanks to Jyoti and the staff for taking such good care of us. Also pretty decent WiFi.

"Being like in a family at the heart of the old town"

7.0

Perfect location, at the heart of the nicest part of the city. Extremely kind staff, we were beautifully looked after. You can choose the breakfast as per your preference. It has a set-up that makes you feel at home.

The bathroom needs to be better cleaned and needs to be refurbished. It’s quite noisy all around but gets quieter after 10:00 pm. Don’t forget your ear-plugs if you’re sensible to noise

Very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel special. They even sorted a thali dinner with little notice from us.

Plumbing a little outdated.

"Tolerable stay if you are on a budget"

7.0

The photo on booking and actual photo of the interior is very different. Inside is dark and not that lit up as shown in the photo. It is an old house so the furnishing is quite dated. The staff is good and polite.

The location of the property is not very ideal. The surrounding area is quite dusty. The plumbing needs work and the taps kept on leaking.
