3-minutes walk to the beach, nice design, generous breakfast

The location is a little inland, 5 mins on the bike to the harbour and 8 mins on the bike to the sunset side of the island. The WiFi is very fast. Its more of a homestay so nothing fancy, but that being said, the bathroom is big. You get your own drinking water station which I've never experienced before, loved it! The aircon works nicely, the bed is comfy, I have a little balcony and a really great view of the rising moon. There's plug points on either side of the bed, a mosquito net if you like but I didn't need it. It's great value for money. Breakfast is included, it's pancakes or eggs and tea or coffee. Both options come with fruit. The staff are friendly and helpful, they offer to clean your room and are also respectful. The English is limited so I kept it simple. I used Google translate when I wanted to extend my stay.

Era un espacio diferente, en la profundidad de la isla. El bungalow tenía aire acondicionado. Estaba limpio y era un sitio muy tranquilo. El servicio amable y el desayuno estaba muy bueno. Un sitio muy local.

Gillies are wery crowded nowadays, compared to 34 years ago when I first visited. However, this bungalow still offers quite an authentic experience, being located in the actual village. It is a very quiet place, with only local lifestile and occasional rooster song. Landlady was very friendly and hard working. Breakfast with fare share of fruits and a generous water baloon in the bungalow. In the era of polyester the cotton linen was exceptionally good, white and crisp and she could be proud on that. They are happy to receive payment in cash, since they are small bussiness and bank commissions hit them hard. Good choice to support a local bussiness.

Maybe they should refresh the wall paint.

Nice neighbourhood with nice staff and people, drinking water in the room was very handy
