I can highly recommend staying at Ruuk Village. The entire team goes above and beyond to make your stay truly special. They offer cooking classes and deep dives into the local culture, fresh coconuts and chai whenever you ask, and a diverse, rich cuisine that is thoughtfully adapted to individual needs. The kite school provides excellent equipment, and the team there takes care of everything, so all you have to do is hop on the boat and cross to the other side of the lagoon. The cabanas are simple and close to nature, yet fully equipped with everything you need. One of the highlights is the outdoor bathroom, beautifully integrated into the natural surroundings.

"Perfect few days spent in peace and tranquility"

10.0

Our stay at Ruuk Village was truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel welcome with their warmth and genuine hospitality. The food was a highlight—fresh, locally sourced, and prepared daily by local cooks, adding a wonderful sense of authenticity. Jevani, the manager, was exceptionally attentive and ensured everything ran smoothly, organising activities and making each day feel special. The village itself is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and the perfect place to slow down and relax. We highly recommend Ruuk Village to anyone looking for an authentic and tranquil stay in Sri Lanka.

Nothing- everything was perfect.

"A perfect place to relax and enjoy authentic Sri Lankan food!"

10.0

I originally booked one night, but when I saw the place I decided to stay two nights (and would have stayed longer if my itinerary allowed it!). The accommodation was simple but very comfortable. I was upgraded to a bigger hut with an hammock and a private garden with toilet and outdoor shower in the back. It was lovely falling asleep to the forests sounds. The food was great! Every single meal I had was amazing. The place also offered cooking classes. The owner is such a lovely lady and did everything to made sure me and the other guests had everything we needed. The staff and the volunteers were also super friendly and helpful. The owner can arrange tours and activities. I did the dolphin tour, which was a great experience!

"Breathtaking views. Back to Basics!"

8.0

1. The location: Offers perhaps one of the best view points of Kalpitiya lagoon. Absolutely breathtaking sunsets. And such a relaxing environment where you can sit and do nothing or anything all day. 2. The staff: very friendly and trying to do their best to accommodate our needs. 3. The cabanas: Rustic, only the essentials but very calm and relaxing atmosphere

1. Meals: leaves a little more to be desired. That's not to say they weren't good.

I’m sure it would have been nice

Couldn’t get to the property. They didn’t have parking for my drivers car so he didn’t get the chance to have the experience.
