Wonderful atmosphere, truly special and definitely unique!

It goes feel quite cramped, which is ‘the price you pay’ for the unique style.

Location was great, room was fine.

One particular staff member was extremely unhelpful and rude regarding forwarding our bags to the next hotel. After having been advised by email and by another colleague about times etc. he advised different information, and made us feel as if we were at fault. It left a bad feeling about our stay here. Don’t offer a service if you don’t want to actually provide the service so people can find alternatives.

チェックアウトの時朝早く６時頃だったので誰も対応して貰え ず良いのかなぁ？で出発しました。大丈夫だったかなぁって感じです。後２段ベッドの上は、 良いのですが、はしごが、急で ６５歳には、怖かったです。 横に網ロープとか下げて捕まる ところを増やしてください。

Very homey and unique guest house. Situated on the shopping street, you can make it here mostly under cover from Onomichi Station. The guest house is tucked in at the back through a narrow alleyway. Inside, you will find yourself in a very retro Japanese style living room and kitchen and reception, with little knick knacks decorating the space. We did not cook during our stay, but from what we saw, the kitchen seemed small, but fairly well equipped. We stayed in the private room. Our room was fairly spacious, with a side room where we can look out into the garden. It is a shared toilet but since (for the private room side) there is only 2 room sharing. There was never a situation where we need to wait to use the toilet.

Shower drains were somewhat clogged, draining slowly. If this bothers you, you should head out to the nearby public baths. I should note that if you are on the wider side, or afraid of heights, then this guest house might not be right for you. The narrow alley going into the guest house entrance and the steep stairs going to the sleeping spaces could potentially be challenging. The wall is quite thin so even with the private room, we could hear the person next room snoring.
