Dirty. Dust everywhere. Dirty toilet and shower room. Overpriced.

İ dont know where to start. Air con not working changed the room, Door lock not working, changed the room. Dust and spiders everywhere, showed them to the worker. She just smiles. This place is never cleaned for months i am sure!!! Workers cant speak English. Walls are thin, you hear everyone all night. Only one toilet downstairs for many rooms. İ travelled more than 70 countries and never stayed a room dirtyer. İ cant understand how Japan authorities and Booking.com working with this place.

The owner was very accommodating, there were several issues that detracted from our experience. Due to the long weekend holiday, our bus from Kamikochi was delayed by 1.5 hours, arriving around 9 PM instead of the expected 7:30 PM. Thankfully, the guest house owner still allowed us to check in, even though the latest check-in time is 8 PM. The building is quite old, and you can hear creaking as you walk around. The sound insulation is minimal, with wooden doors and walls, making it easy to hear noises from neighboring rooms. I highly recommend future guests bring earplugs for a more comfortable stay. While we don’t mind staying in older buildings, cleanliness was a significant issue. The bathroom had a noticeable odor, and the toilet lid had a fuzzy cover that I found quite off-putting. Additionally, a friend spotted a cockroach in the kitchen area, and the overall cleanliness was below what I expected for accommodation in Japan. On the positive side, the location is convenient, close to various attractions, and since Matsumoto is not a large city, most sites are within 1-2 km from the guest house. Overall, if I ever visit Matsumoto, I will likely choose a different place to stay.
