Chill House safari resort

Wow, everything! I had to book last minute and they were so accommodating, even with the electricity out for the day. You need to stay here for your visit to Udawalawe!! They have their own safari car and do very good rates for the safari, while the guide is very knowledgable and fun to have guiding around the park! The rooms are amazing for the price and the staff are the best I have had since traveling here!

Absolutely nothing

We had a fantastic stay at Chill House Safari Resort. The room was spacious, beautiful and had everything we needed. A/C and Wifi worked really well. The best part about our stay was Hashan and his family, they are so lovely and did everything to make us feel comfortable. They also cooked dinner for us which was very delicious. We did the Safari with Hashan as well and it was the best experience. He is the best guide. He gave us lots of information about the animals and the park during the Safari. He has been a guide for a lot of time now and you can truly notice. He knows many good spots in the park so we were alone for almost the whole Safari and he is able to spot literally every animal, no matter how small. We saw so many different animals! He also organised for us to have breakfast in a small hut in the park which was so cool. So if you want to stay at Udawalawe and do a Safari, we can not reccomend this place enough!

I definitely recommend this place, amazing host, beautiful place. We went on 6h safari and it was undoubtedly a highlight of my entire stay in Sri Lanka. I really wish to be back sooner or later!

There were a few ants in our room, but it’s nothing unbearable :)

Hashan and his family are amazing! The place is brand new and very comfortable! You can't beat that price ! I also had dinner there, his wife is a wonderful cook! Lastly I did the safari with him and his son and had an awesome experience! He has been running it for decades now and knows all the best places ! Definitely book with him you won't be disappointed! The room was lovely & spacious, with large windows that let lots of light in and the surrounding greenery. Hashan & his family were absolutely lovely, his wife made us some DELICIOUS food and Hashan goes above and beyond for his guests. He took us on an amazing safari at Udawalawe, making sure to find spaces away from all the other jeeps & lots of peaceful time observing the gentle giants and wildlife there. We drove to the park during sunrise & even had breakfast in the jungle. He really made our experience something special, we would go back here in a heartbeat. Hashan even took us for a swim in a nearby river. Couldn’t recommend more!

Hashan is a super friendly and helpful host, his home is beautiful and is situated close to the safari and has a restaurant next to it. Hashan took us on a morning safari and we had an amazing time, he ensured we weren’t around lots of jeeps and had a very intimate experience. He was very knowledgable and spoke great English. The rooms were lovely and clean, highly recommend to stay here for a safari experience!

Room was large, very comfortable, in quiet scenic area. Breakfast the first morning was sparse and I was disappointed in not having local food. I asked for a more substantial breakfast the next morning as I would be traveling to the airport before a night flight. I was shocked when I saw the HUGE local style breakfast the next morning. Host was very nice and provided a half-day safari in the park, where I saw many elephants as well as other wildlife. Host spoke good English and was able to provide information about elephants and other wildlife which I did not get during my Yala safari. I walked 1 minute from the hotel to The Garlic for good local evening meals. I originally booked another place in the area, but changed to here when the first place did not respond to my inquiry regarding a safari.

My partner and I have had an exceptional stay at Chill House. We were looked after a lot by the family that run it. The owner took us on private safari tour of Udawalawe NP for a very reasonable price. He’s been doing tours for 11 years and was very knowledgeable. The stay is a great value for money.

The host is an amazing person and will help you with everything you need. Air conditioning works good, the bed is comfortable. Take the safari with them, the guide is prepared and can drive around the park with no limitations! Also try the restaurant nearby, excellent quality!

WiFi was not stable, but you go to this area to stay out all day, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
