KOOK BUNGALOW

Excellent location ; basic and small but very clean ; very nice owners. We compared many staying options before and on site and, in this price range, we found Kook Bungalow to be the best value.

The mattress was not the most comfortable but ok Lack of space to put the luggage (and we only had to small backpacks) The owners are really nice but the language barrier makes it a bit difficult sometimes and can cause some misunderstandings [they do want to help and make you welcomed though] If you have smoking neighbours, you'll unfortunately end up smoking with them in your room as you get all the cigarette smell :( [IT HAS NOTHING to do with the place itself but I need to add that we were not a huge fan of Koh Mook. Although we're quite used to traveling in Asia, and sometimes very poor places, the garbage issue here is real and so frustrating. In hindsight, we would have skipped it]

New clean modern accommodation, by far the best on koh mook in this price range

Wifi useless

Facility newer so in the area where the bungalows were or tidy and clean there was an outdoor seating area if you wanted to sit outside and eat. Shower was good and they were good at dropping off water and toilet paper on our front seating area when we did not want cleaning done. The lady that worked the hotel always had a smile. It did come with a flat screen TV which is great if you can speak Thai. The room had a kettle with coffee available which was nice for the mornings and it had a mini fridge. It was close to restaurants and a short walk to the beach, those are a plus.

First of all when you pull up you walk between people's houses to get to the check-in. We thought we were in the wrong place because as we were walking to the down the path to the check-in there is garbage and crap held up along the pathway. As you continue along the path to the bungalows it looks like you're literally in somebody's backyard where they've been burning trash and junk thrown in the yard and then you come upon a gated area where the 8th all bungalows are. If you can get past that then it's probably fine. Wi-Fi wasn't even available the first two days because they couldn't figure it out and it wasn't just us other people could not get Wi-Fi and had to go to cafes. Came back from the beach one day and there was no water had to go back to the front check in and have them figure out why there was no water. The bed was probably the worst bed we stayed in all of Thailand. But for 25 bucks a night if you can get past those few things and want just a room to stay in and it not be a hostel then this is the place for you. They're very much is a language barrier with the people running the hotel and I understand that not everybody speaks English but you have to be able to communicate in some respects when you have people from all over the world coming to your hotel.
