Serendib Village Guest House

Goed ontbijt en prima kamers. Mooi zwembad.

Wij hadden een kamer met buitenbadkamer (overdekt maar wel ‘open’). Aangezien het hotel aan een beek gelegen is, hadden we daarom best veel insecten (en spinnen) in de badkamer, waar ik persoonlijk niet zo’n fan van ben :) maar voor de rest echt een heel aangenaam verblijf gehad!

Very well kept. Staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was definitely a highlight of the stay.

Het zwembad, het ontbijt en het bed waren absolute toppers. De airconditioning was ook heerlijn.

De douche was moeilijk te regelen.

I would reccomend to any solo female travellers. Genuinley so good and would book again if i 'm back in Negombo.

This is a cute family-run guesthouse with very friendly and helpful staff. They were flexible with our early check-in, which was greatly appreciated after traveling with a baby. The location is convenient, about 5 minutes from the main street and around 10 minutes from the beach. The property is surrounded by beautiful tropical plants and nature, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The room had air conditioning, and they were able to provide a baby crib. However, the property would benefit from deeper cleaning and some maintenance. Our bathroom had several issues: the sink was leaking, there was no hook for a hand towel, and only one small shelf, which was not enough for a family. The bidet was in very poor condition and appeared to need replacement rather than cleaning. The bedsheets were washed but had visible stains, and some were torn in places. Towels were clean, but only one towel was provided per person, with no separate towel for our baby, meaning the same towel had to be used for body, face, and feet. There was no TV, refrigerator, or safe in the room, and the Wi-Fi was extremely slow. The electricity went off twice during our stay, although this may have been an area-wide issue rather than the property’s fault. The swimming pool did not appear to be well maintained, as the water was not clear, so we chose not to use it. We did not try the breakfast, so I cannot comment on the food. One thing that stood out to us was that both staff and many guests walked barefoot throughout the property, both indoors and outdoors. Combined with the constantly wet floors in some areas and the presence of stray dogs around the guesthouse, this made the overall environment feel less hygienic than we would have preferred. There was also occasionally an unpleasant smell in some outdoor areas. The dogs seemed friendly, but one appeared to have a visible skin condition, which was concerning while traveling with a small baby.
