The Green Village Dambulla

The owner and his family go ALL OUT AND BEYOND for their guests! As a solo female traveler, I cannot feel safer in The Green Village - they make sure they are there for me whenever i am in the lodge, always helping me plan out my day even meals. The breakfast spread is amazing, the room is impeccably clean, steady hot water, comfortable AC, convenient location. They can organize any trip for you at a very reasonable price (in my case - day trip to Polonnaruwa, sunrise at Pidurangala Rock), also the owner owns a tuk tuk and he offers free drop to Dambulla Cave Temple; on my last morning, he even drove me to the bus stop! I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who visits Dambulla 🫶

Large, well equipped room. Comfy bed. Once you figured out the workings of the shower, it was nice and warm with good pressure. Very quiet, yet a short walk from several good restaurants and a large supermarket. Friendly and helpful hosts.

The Wifi was weak at first, absent for the second half of our stay - surprising in a place with excellent 5G coverage.

Out of all the hotels and homestays I stayed at during my 11-day tour of Sri Lanka, this homestay was by far the most valuable and amazing. The rooms were very clean and had almost every amenity you could need. The host was incredibly friendly and even dropped me off at the station when I was leaving. The breakfast was healthy, delicious, and the portion sizes were great. Sometimes pictures don't fully capture the quality of a room, but the moment I walked in, it felt so peaceful and calming. The location is tucked a bit away from downtown, but it is only a 10-minute walk to get there.
