Ideal getaway and for surfing and meeting genuine local people. Few shops in the town with basic stuff. Perfect antidote to package holidays for the brave independent traveller

Great place for surfers and backpackers! Good vibes and no tourist mess. Great even just to relax, read or work.

We actually didn’t mind much but: be prepared for early morning wake up. The Call for prayer in the nearest mosque starts at 4 am and lasts for about 40 minutes. It is very loud. Also be prepared to live in a proper country side: cocks will be loud and you will be sharing room with a lot of geckos (that is actually fun although it means to occasionaly clean after them), insects and other animals (we had a banded krait in our room once). The room is basic but sufficient, but it leaks considerably, the rusty water from the roof actually destroyed some of my clothes (that really should be fixed). Basically if you are a touristy-tourist type, this is not for you.

Great spot to enjoy Medewi, go surfing and meet other travelers. We booked for 3 nights and we extended to stay a week. Most people seem to book a couple of nights and stay for weeks or months. There are several rooms available and they're all quite different. Ours had a fan and a bathroom. Everything is spartan like others have said but it's clean and comfortable. The staff is wonderful and the spot has some character, with views of the ocean from the common area. Everyone in Medewi, travelers and locals are super chilled and friendly. This is a one minute walk from the cafe everyone around hang out at. We rented scooters from the homestay and surfboards from the spot at the cafe. Medewi was the highlight of our time in Bali.

Great location, super well priced! Everything you needed could be done at the nearby Holitree, a sweet cafe with AMAZING juices. All the locals really happy to help with whatever you needed. No bells and whistles in our room, but not what we were there for. Lovely staff, great vibes 👌 Were able to arrange surfing lessons with Omar and Joe really easily, who were great. The community value local business which is a great plus.

The facilities in the budget room were basic - don't expect anything else. However, it has everything you need.

Dirt Cheap, emphasis on the dirt. I know there’s a shortage of accommodation at Medewi but there’s not much to like about the room we had.

Dirty, no window and no mossie net so we couldn’t even leave the door open. Horrible mouldy smell, grim bathroom. Cleaning would be a major first step here. I would never come back here.
