Guesthouse Básar

Location - Grimsey Island is spectacular. Well maintained guesthouse with a large shared kitchen and wonderful hosts. We will return.

I prefer a private bathroom but the shared bathrooms in this guesthouse worked well.

We loved this place in every way. The hostess, Aslaug, was fantastic! She made us feel so welcome. Our room looked out to the ocean and was clean and comfortable. The shared bathrooms were kept spotless. We went to photograph puffins, terns and more and the photo opportunities were never ending. We alert with a huge number of quality photos and couldn’t be happier. The only restaurant was also wonderful. The prepared cod in a different way each night and all versions were exceptional. We travel a great deal and our stay on Grímsey and Guesthouse Basar will always be one of our all time favorites! Thank you to all who made our experience was wonderful!!!!!

Close to a lot of places for a puffin watching. A very supportive host, she drove me to the village and back a couple of times, so I avoided being attacked by arctic terns

Very welcoming and comfy. Enjoyed the good breakfast and great location.

It’s truly next to the “airport” which was very convenient for our arrival and departure since we opted to fly. It’s such a nice family owned place and they’re very welcoming. We enjoyed the breakfast very much and an afternoon tea or hot chocolate or coffee. You’re a short, enjoyable walk to town and very close to excellent bird watching areas and the Arctic circle. Very, fery friendly and helpful owner, did even come with a car for our luggage to the harbour. It wasn't far so we walked, but it is good not to carry the luggage. Exceptional atmosphere, it wa a really good stay and everyone war very happy. Hope we will be back next year!

A wonderful place to stay. Our hosts were so welcoming and helpful, going out of their way on many occasions to make sure our stay was memorable. The stairs are wide, bathroom upstairs and down, comfortable beds in warm room, great lounge/dining/kitchen area. Coffee always on the go and good breakfasts. Transport to our ferry.

We would go again at the drop of a hat - nothing we didn't like!

Our host Gagga was incredible. Everything we needed, she offered. She went above and beyond - when our flight back was delayed, she got in touch with our car rental agency to ensure someone would be there to help us. She was kind, funny, and helpful. We had a very comfortable stay and would not hesitate to stay again!
