Hospitality was above excellent. If you really want to live the experience staying in a 150 years old house with amazing view and breakfast this is the place.

Bed very hard bath small, lots of squeaking but this goes with the atmosphere

"Nice stay in an old mansion in the historic part of town."

8.0

The mansion was really traditional and had lots of character. It was quiet and in a really old part of the town. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was very generous and varied. They even served breakfast to you!

The bathroom in my room was a bit basic and old

"Wonderful building, beautiful inside, extremely helpful and friendly staff, excellent location"

10.0

Beautiful old building, full of lovely furniture and old things, excellent location, very helpful staff, real sense of history staying there

The bathroom was quite small though we understood that the priority was to preserve the architecture.

"There are better options in town."

6.0

It is a beautiful old manse on the top of the hill up from the lake. Views were slightly obstructed, but were across the lake and were pretty. The decor inside is dark wood throughout, with rooms on the ground floor, first floor, and a breakfast area downstairs in a basement. Breakfast was pastries, bread, cheese, yoghurt, jams, juice, cereal and eggs. The coffee was really poor quality but everything else was fantastic.

There a couple of things that are down to opinion, and for me, the decor made everything feel dark and the reception was unmanned throughout so there was no one to speak to if you need anything. The bathrooms in this hotel are not acceptable, and in my view, they should close the rooms until they have restructured the space to make them bigger. I am a tall slim man, and I could not use the toilet, the shower or the sink, because I couldn’t fit in there. When trying to use the toilet, I could not stand far enough back because of the sink. If you try to sit, your knees are in the air because of the sink. The shower is low slung and in a ‘half bath’ because the gap is only about 3ft. I could not stand in it, or sit in it. While trying to stand in front of the sink, the back of your legs are pressed up against the toilet. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world but I have never seen bathrooms like this. They are not poor quality, they are just not fit to be used. The furniture is old, which is nice to look at, but the bed is very hard and the layout of the room not very practical. Be aware that it is also up a very steep hill and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

"Very nice stay!"

9.0

Beautiful house , very tasteful decoration and a beautiful view of the lake. The breakfast is fantastic. The place is quiet and there are some good restaurants in the direct neighbourhood. The room has beautiful traditional furniture and is really cosy. The room is very spacious. We admire the creatvity of the owner who succeeded to combine antiques with well hidden modern bathrooms. We will come back!

Nothing really.

"An oasis of comfort and civility, Vergoulis Mansion combines the very best of the old and the new."

9.0

The location is superb - tranquil with tons of perspective - especially of the lake and the promenade as well as other historic buildings in the vicinity. The wooden-floors and plain walls have a calming effect. By Greek standards breakfast was ample and varied. The staff with whom I dealt, Artemie, Marina and Othon were gracious and helpful. My glasses got broken on my second day and Artemie offered to lend me his own pair which, after some reluctance, i accepted. Othon gave me worthwhile tourist material on Kastoria which was impossible to find in the town. Incidentally, there are some excellelnt restaurants very near, Palia Poli being a stand-out.

The bathroom was small. it took some time for hot water to come on. The hotel perhaps could have been better sign-posted from the coast road below. That's all!

Beautiful well-kept old property located in the best part of Kastoria. The staff are very friendly and provided very useful information. The breakfast was very good too.

The bathrooms are smaller than usual but this didn't bother us and we still enjoyed our stay tremendously.
