Villa Selena - 1830s Art-House Suites in Vaporia, 50m from Asteria Beach

We loved it all, beautiful property, lovely villa, wonderful and very helpful staff. Amazing breakfast. Would go back any time

Villa Selena is a neoclassical beauty retaining the charm of yesteryear, nestled between a picturesque church and the sea, with bustling restaurants and bars nearby. Rooms are beautifully decorated and exude charm. Housekeeping very good. Spotlessly clean and tidy every day. There is also a stunning shared living room and a rooftop to soak in the ambiance. However, your experience may vary depending on the room you are assigned. Enjoy swimming at Asteria Beach right at your doorstep. Free parking is available about 400 meters away.

We encountered several service issues during our week-long stay at Villa Selena that we feel need addressing: a) Room Assignments: - Our expectations for room quality were not met, given the price paid and the duration of our stay. - Room #1, which was advertised with a sea view, had minimal visibility of the sea and lacked adequate privacy due to its proximity to the hotel entrance and insufficient sound isolation, making it feel as though passersby were entering our room. - Additionally, a beautiful chair in Room #1 broke immediately upon first use and was replaced with an inferior plastic chair. - Our children were placed in Room #6, dubbed 'The Dungeon,' which was dark, cramped, and significantly different from the advertised photos. b) Noise Levels: - Garbage and waste collection occurred disruptively early at 4:00 AM or earlier, twice a week. c) Breakfast Experience: - While the quality of the food was very good, the limited variety became monotonous quickly. - The breakfast area was cramped and often uncomfortably warm, exacerbated by the staff's failure to activate the fans. - On one occasion, our family of four was expected to squeeze into a small, uncleared table. Unacceptable. d) Staff Engagement: - No in-room information was available, and advice on local dining could only be obtained through booking messages or WhatsApp, due to the absence of a front desk. - We found the hotel owner and staff to be quite resistant to receiving feedback, which made it challenging to address the issues we encountered during our stay. e) Amenities: - Only four coffee capsules per day were provided, which was inadequate. - The late start of the breakfast service at 8:00 or 8:30 AM posed a challenge for early risers. Given these issues, we would hesitate to return or recommend Villa Selena without significant improvements in these areas.

If you haven't been to Syros yet, you will find out very quickly that the location of this villa is one of the most desirable place on the whole island. But that's not all. Spending time at the Selena Villa was above and beyond all our expectations. The room, breakfast, everything was perfect. The structure of the villa is beautiful. We were on the top floor, the room overlooks a breathtaking view, that combines the sea, a colorful beach town and a stunning lighthouse. The breakfast is very healthy, varied and fresh. Maro the host was so lovely, took care of everything for us, she was very kind, pleasant and gave us great tips for spending time in the city. We couldn't ask for anything more. This one is DEFINITELY gets a 10 out of 10

No tv in the room

Beautiful view from the hotel which was in a lovely neighbourhood. The staff, Katia and Maro were exceptional and managed to arrange a dentist appointment for my wife when her filling fell out. Breakfast was brilliant. The sun terrace was lovely and gave both sun and shade.

Quite a steep walk up to it from the town centre and unfortunate that our room overlooked the large waste bins which were emptied around 5am each morning with a lot of noise - not the fault of the hotel though, and I understand other rooms didn't suffer from this.

A very helpful and accommodating staff, everyone was very kind. The room was wonderful and clean and the bathroom was spacious and nice. The breakfast was incredible.

Zero complaints

Villa Selena is such a nice place to stay, it’s comfortable and we liked the views and decor. Maria is really nice and helped arrange a taxi from the port in the very early hours and was accommodating when our ferry off Syros was cancelled. The breakfast was really good!
