Palms Retreat

The guesthouse was quiet stylish and modern, arrangement of space was really cosy and nice. The staff especially guys from Sri lanka are second to none really enjoyed them and appreciated their work. The owner is helpful, happy to help and explain stuff. If you like Thai food, their dishes are good.

hmm.. in terms of downsides: 1. The place was missing couple of things in the room from what it is said in the offer, of course after letting know then owner helped to arrange missing items (neverless I am not type of person who runs around and ask for each individual thing which is missing so only focused on what was important, the rest like slippers, tea etc was to be accepted did not need it) 2. The breakfast was acceptable, although it seems like there is some inconsistency of what is served as at least for us reality differ from the pictures that some people posted (perhaps for the sake of instagram) not sure but it was strange. I think there is some misunderstanding of what `À la carte` means which is advertised. A la carte is the practice of ordering individual dishes from a menu but here you are given main breakfast with some sides and you eat what you are given without menu to pick from which is definitely not a `À la carte`. Also last day of departure as the boat was at 7am everyone was given packed breakfast. I am not sure if everyone was as surprise as us, beside soft apple juice which was nice we got sandwiches with small slice of ham and cheese no butter, nothing - even in cheapest hotels when you pay for breakfast I never got such a bad one in my life and did not expect that coming from this place. I like to try lots of different things so I experienced whole fulhadhoo and near by islands and their food places as well as food places in Male from expensive ones to cheaper ones and I have to say that Palms is pretty pricy and the difference is noticeable as for all other places prices were very similar here you pay few extra dollars - I am not complaining about it as thai food was good but competition is also good and cheaper (more like observation).

Wifi could be available in rooms but it’s not a big problem

Really lovely staff, all keen for a chat. The food is excellent. Really large portion sizes. The breakfast was always a delight. We are vegetarian, and were given a variety each day. It was a highlight. The restaurant is very popular at dinner time, so they are less flexible on customisations, but there are good vegetarian options anyway. Even on our 7am ferry leaving Fulladhoo, they packed a small takeaway breakfast, which was very appreciated. The ferry trips were also organised by Palms Retreat. I had tried to organise them myself, but the ferry company doesn't reply. So it, was good to have this help. I think it was a small surchage. The bed mattress is extremely comfortable. It is memory foam I think. It has convinced me I need memory foam at home. Our room was very nice, with a good seating area, and kettle. The bathroom was nice, the shower got hot enough, which we have not had at all places we've stayed in Maldives. All the facilities are really clean, modern, comfortable. There are lots of places to chill out in the downstairs restaurant / common area. The sandy area was delightful to watch many kids play and bond. We were given a great briefing on the island, where is good to snorkel and swim, other restaurants and shops, and the activities on offer. Including, that we could split costs for activities if more rooms were coming. A local driver Musushin was able to take us to the exact location of the coral restoration happening, and tell us about the cameras installed in the reef, which was the main reason we came to Fulladhoo. The locals are very friendly too. One of the owners, Aiman took us out to see Manta Rays, but we didn't see any! Instead we were still able to have a great snorkelling experience, at a depth we weren't able to access without the boat. And we say Eagle Rays, turtles, dolphins, moray eel, and many fish and star fish.

It was a little annoying that when you leave you room, you cannot charge your devices, because you take the card that connects the power with you. It would be good to have a vegetarian coconut curry option, at the Thai restaurant.

The hotel was new and good, room was spacy enough, very stylish with many cozy interior elements. Food in hotel Thai restaurant was eatable but I couldn't say it was very tasty. It was impossible to choose food for included breakfast and actually it wasn't diverse or even tasty. Especially chicken soup for breakfast was something really strange((( For the price they charge they should have provided variety of food for breakfast. Staff was quite friendly and they tried to do all their best but anyway they were hired employees and it was a way different with the attitude you could get being in the guest house managed by owners.

The first bad thing was the experience with asking money in advance by the hotel even if the booking was without prepayment. They asked by WhatsApp three weeks before arrival trying to explain it with the high season demand. They should have foreseen it in advance and had made the booking prepaid on the website. The second bad thing was problem with transfer. We asked about a private one and the price during negotiations was exaggerated. On the day of departure they wanted to postpone our transfer for 5 hours explaining it with the boat breakage. Only after some negotiations they managed to find another boat and provide us transfer two hours later that it had been planned. The third bad thing was their inner currency rates. They didn't take local money at all and the most ridiculous thing was that euro rate was less than dollar. They just told us that euro was very weak this time))) of course it was not! The forth bad thing was their imposed New Year dinner party. To be honest it was no party at all just dinner (by the way the dinner itself was not bad) but they had promised much more in advance and it had been impossible to refuse. And the last bad thing was dirty towels and bed sheets. It was disgusting for the hotel considered on this level. In general it was not the worst experience in my life but for price they charge they should provide better service. I can say that Kiha Beach in Dharavandhoo for the same price was a way better! PS On Fulhadhoo the choice of hotels is limited but the island itself is worth to visit. Maybe that's why Palms Retreat doesn't pay proper attention to their service.

Excellent stuff, everyone is very kind and nice. We had a warm welcome and received all the useful information about the island and other tips.

Our stay was really enjoyable.The staff were very lovely and professional they arranged our Ferry SpeedBoat from Airport to the guest house. Once arriaved Mr Ayman gave us the necessary information and guidnce about the island. Room Decoration was so nice and ready upon our arrival they also served us a welcoming drink. Hotel vibes are so cosy and modern, Freshners and parfum diffusers were everywhere inside the Guest House.

They can do more with breakfast,WIFI not available in rooms.

Would like a bit more choice of European food. Thai food was perfect.

Breakfast was good, though I was the only guest in the hotel, so no buffet (brought plates to me). It's overall a nice property with good staff but there are issues on how the mark everything up.

Seriously overcharge for everything: Excursions are 2-3X other properties on the island; food in the restaurant is 2-3X other islands; charge a service fee of 12%, but you get no service? Charge a credit card fee of 3.5% but hotels on the other islands in the Maldives do not charge this. When I settled the bill upon leaving, I noticed I was overcharged on the excursion, dinner and other things. Sorry, I cannot recommend this property.

This is amazing and most beautiful place on nearest islands, and really really best on Fulhadhu. Amy, Aiman thanks for all, you made our honeymoon, we are happy. Restaurant was amazing Thai food real. Wish you luck and many visitors. Aseel good luck. Thank for Go Pro shooting
