Owls Nest

Das Essen war fantastisch, frisch zubereitet, freundlich serviert, umfangreich, mit Nachtisch... toll! Abends ebenso wie das Frühstück. Michael ist ein welterfahrener Eigentümer, spricht gutes Englisch und sagt kluge Dinge. Ein Künstler für Eisen-Skulpturen obendrein. Er liebt die Tiere und die Natur, zeigte uns schöne Dinge, brachte uns zum Park. Dann lief mal ein Pfau am Zaun entlang, ein hübscher Vogel nistet im Sockel des Ventilators, Affen schauen in respektvollem Abstand vorbei... Der warme Pool war perfekt für Entspannung pur. Das Haus ist geschmackvoll und voller überraschender Details eingerichtet. Wohin man schaut, zeigen sich interessante Dinge. Ein ganz toller Aufenthalt war das.

Nichts

Zo’n prachtige lokatie, een BeenB die je bijna schattig zou noemen en zo’n vriendelijke gastheer en -vrouw! Verscholen in het bos dat grenst aan het wildpark, stukje weg van de grotere resorts ligt een klein huisje met gastenkamers en een gezinsappartementje. Alle kunst is door de eigenaar zelf gemaakt. Lief achtertuintje waar opeen een kudde buffels voorbij liep. Paar dagen ervoor een olifant. Je kon ze ‘‘s avonds horen. Je kunt er ‘s avonds heerlijk lokaal eten als je dat aangeeft. Er is ook een klein zwembad. Eigenaar heeft ons ook meegenomen eind van de dag om herten te spotten. En toen stonden we opeens tegenover een hele grote olifant! Hij heeft voor ons ook de safari geregeld en na afloop stond ontbijt voor ons klaar! Vlakbij ingang wildpark. Echt zo’n aanrader, zo apart en gezellig!

Niets, alles was heerlijk. Airco moet je apart mee reserveren maar kon ook ter plekke toen ik dat vergeten was.

One of the best properties we stayed in Sri Lanka. The host was magnificent and showed us around the nearby locations. He was extremely kind and was very helpful. He also cooked amazing food (really recommend having a meal here). He creates amazing art from metal and wood and has a beautiful garden facing the national park. Nice location close to the elephants, the elephant orphanage and some nice restaurants. We left with great memories!

Michael is a lovely interesting guy, and his house is equally lovely. Thank you.

I honestly could not have asked for better hosts. They truly know how to make you feel at home and welcome. My stay here was the highlight of my trip in Sri Lanka. The location is great; onlooking the national park. The quality and quantity of food were exceptional. I am so glad to have stayed here and will definitely go back when returning to Sri Lanka.

This place felt like paradise. The family is wonderful: the man creates stunning decorations, the woman prepares some of the best food in Sri Lanka, and their child is the friendliest and most playful girl. They play great music in the background, and their back garden offers breathtaking views of the national park.

I had a very pleasant stay at Owls Nest. I felt very welcomed and taken care of. The host organized me a safari trip, showed me the area and explained me about the wildlife and the history. The food was very delicious and generous, I enjoyed it so much!

Amazing! The host is so lovely and generous. He cooked for us, took us on tours, and organized everything! He cooks so well, and there were elephants right in front of the garden! He is also a true artist; his house decor looks stunning. Very comfortable, we really felt like home.

Michael is a special man with extraordinary hosting skills, he makes you feel right at home, his cooking, kindness, thoughtfulness and graciousness make the stay here feel like you are right at home. The garden and backyard are very special, each night hundreds of fireflies dance in the forest with the star’s twinkling, it brought me to tears knowing magic exists, this place emulates that.

Having WiFi however the country is undergoing difficult economic times and I can understand how this isn’t applicable right now, there are restaurants nearby that one can easily go to, and it’s nice to disconnect and be in nature.
