"Absolutely wonderful"

10.0

We stayed at Pohutukawa Batch for 8 days while in town for family business, and it was an awesome place to stay. Even though the weather was cold, windy, and rainy, the batch was warm and inviting, with two heaters that kept us extra cosy the whole time. The batch is fully equipped — unlike some places that only provide the basics. We cooked dinner every night for four people and had everything we needed with no issues at all. We also found the price amazing for everything included — honestly felt underpriced for the comfort and quality we got. The batch was spotless, and the beds were soft and comfortable, giving us some of the best sleeps we’ve had in a long time. If you love fishing, you’ll love the location. It’s just a short walk across the road to the beach. I caught kahawai and trevally — just cast towards the buoys and chur chur! The shower is hot with perfect water pressure, which made coming back from the cold even better. The main town is only a short drive away, so everything is nice and convenient. The owners live upstairs and are warm, friendly, and very chill people, so don’t be shy. We also loved the family photos and learning a little about the history of the house — you can really feel the love and care the family has put into this place. All I can say is highly recommend — definitely 10 out of 10!

Overall great stay, amazingly comfortable for a family , perfect toys, lovely furnishings, very thoughtfully put together....only mentioning the improvements as if you don't know about it you can't improve

Coffee machine , dosnt work very well took ages to jiggle the coffee cube in. Stove took forever to get the elements hot enough to cook, frying pans were dirty. The having to go through a shared space to get to bathroom felt uncomfortable, would be good to put a screen there of some sort

It's a gem. I wish we had longer there.

No tv. But reading. Books were so much better and relaxing.

"Very comfortable modern-bach look; excellently located for best beaches in the area; friendly hosts"

8.0

The lay out, bed, furnishings, paintings and family photo wall were lovely It is very 'bachy' but more modern than the original Kiwi batches, with a great shower and separate toilet. Kitchen has all you need and great dining table. There is no dishwasher but washing dishes is fine. Loved the piano, pool table and kayaks you zip across the road to paddle in the estuary and reach private beach. Loved the private outlook towards the estuary and all the plants and garden. Awesome that they take their recycling responsibilities seriously.

There is no TV, but that's OK if you have your own laptop and I think this also encourages reading and chilling in other ways. The kitchen drawers/cupboards could probably have a bit of a good clean, but the linen and bathroom were spotless, and the floors looked vacuumed and clean. They have an issue of 'boy racers' and fast traffic on the road in front later at night and sometimes noisy, which was surprising being so rural, but Ngangaru is a throughfare for popular beaches.
