French Garden Regish Beachfront Hotel

The FGRGH is beach front property and run by a very attentive, humble and friendly young chap called Alex. His cousin runs the beachfront next door. Both have restaurants which are mainly open during high season. The FGRGH has approximately 5 rooms facing the sea directly and 2 on the side next to the reception. Note that the entire plot from beach to mainroad is called French Garden but only this one is really next to the sea. The rooms are basic but have clean white bed sheets and clean light towels - plus veranda and two chairs. There was a nice wooden wall shelf/table and a mirror in room 109. All rooms have windows and mosquito nets on top of the bed. Though it was often rainy during my extended stay the room was never humid compared to other places I stayed in Uppuveli. Alex arranges Tuk Tuks, finds out about train schedules, can arrange coconuts, cutlery, etc… The guesthouse is more or less at the end of the long hotel stretch and therefore nice and quiet. At the junction (200 m) to the main road you have a mini (tuk tuk) supermarket and a restaurant (tasty&fast family restaurant). You can catch busses or tuk tuks from there. The beer and liquor store is about 15 mins walk up north (on the mainroad). I slept very well with the sound of the waves and enjoyed a daily run up North on the beach all the way to the laguna with fishermen catching their daily rations in the morning. I would definitely recommend this place and will certainly return.

The bathroom was clean but very basic. It could use some love. A bit of wooden decoration would be nice. But in general it was fine especially for the price.

L'assenza di pulizia, ho dovuto pulire il wc con amuchina. La camera piccolissima, troppo calda anche col ventilatore, la confusione fino tarda sera e la presenza abbondante di cornacchie nel retro casa che di solito sono vicine ai rifiuti.

The room was basic but perfect for having the beach right at your doorstep! The AC was silent, clean towels were provided and the washroom had hot water - bonus. All rooms have a small patio that faces the beach.

There was only one power point plug in the room - I was working during my travels which meant I could only sit in one position when charging my laptop.

Отличный отель, по отличной цене. Номера с выходом на океан, персонал помогает/подсказывает. В номерах кондиционеры и они хорошо работают + вентилятор. С удовольствием бы вернулись в это райское местечко)☀️

Много комаров)) + перебои с водой, то она есть, то нет(

Exquisitely positioned on the beach. Comfortable bed, lovely bedding. This had the potential to be a fabulous place to stay.

The bathroom was not clean, and was poorly laid out. The ‘plastic’ front door was neither aesthetically pleasing nor reassuringly secure!

Приехали рано утром, по нашей просьбе нас заселили раньше, бесплатно. Находится прямо на берегу океана и это самый большой плюс этого отеля. Комната маленькая. Почти всю комнату занимает кровать. По чистоте удовлетворительно, если не придираться к мелочам нормально.

В комнате есть кондиционер. но почему-то вода с него капает прямо на пол, точнее на не очень чистый коврик.

Расположение великолепное! Бунгало находятся прямо на пляже, все со своим входом и террасой! Маловато мебели,но это не критично. Холодильника и чайника тоже нет, но отель этого и не заявляет,мы попросили чайник и нам его любезно предоставили. С обеих сторон отеля неплохие ресторанчики,где можно завтракать, на ужин готовят свежевыловленную рыбу. Великолепный пляж, широкая береговая линия,столики ресторанов стоят прямо на пляже,что вечером очень атмосферно,много собак,но они все ручные , персонал и отеля и кафешек их любит и кормит, и в целом Ланкийцы очень трепетно относятся ко всем животным. Тут же есть снорклинг и прогулки на лодках.
